View Full Version : Oil Gauge

I finally got round to fitting some GTE six dial clocks today, they all work.. The speedo needle is a bit jumpy, but I think thats down to the cable.

However the Oil Gauge needle goes off the clock! It sits where 3 would be on a normal clock face! It goes back to the max mark with the ignition turned off. Ive taken the clocks apart and reset the needle back to the minimum, by gently moving it by hand, but it still returns to 3 o'clock when the ignition is turned on..

Ive checked the oil level and its on the max line, and the pump is moving oil to the top of the engine..
The car is a 1.0 litre shell with a 1400 Sr engine.

Ive run out of ideas as to why it would read so high, so any advice would be much appreciated..

Thanks in advance,

Ben :D

There is one fitted, thats why i dont understand, ive checked the wiring aswell and thats ok too. I forgot to mention before that the oil light works as it should, e.g. comes on with the ignition and then goes off when the engine is started..

Any other ideas :-/
