2L 16v engine how hard to change the tappets with engine in car, looks tight for the timming belt, hmm must be an engine out job??

Could the tapping be any thing else?? it is definetly coming from the upper half of the engine, i have had tappets go on the 8v and it sounds the same....

check the rocker's as one might be worn!+the cam my 1.2 was making tapping nosie thought was tappets but was worn cam!

Sounds like the cam to me. I had the same prob on my SR. Is it worse first thing in the morning? If it is its gonna be the cam. Try synthectic oil. it won't cure it but should stop it gettin worse.

it will be ur cam, tappets and followers ur best off changing the lot or else 1 problem leads to another, i have wrecked 2 1300 motors if u just change the cam then other things will start to go next, the problem is related and the only way to sort it is to rebuild ur head properly, if not the next thing that goes is ur big end bearings

THAT WALL HURT !!
