A few of my nuts and bolts are fairly manky, and I think my rear axle nuts are knackered as 17mm is too big and 16mm is too small. :wtf: Sooooooooooooooo... Would nuts and bolts from B&Q be trustworthy enough for suspension components (like rear beam pivot) or will I need to get specialist ones from Vauxhall? :D

Replace them with high tensile bolts from a trade supplier or failing that Vauxhall. The rating of the tensile strength or whatever is stamped on the head. 12.9 or 10's are common in high stress areas. You wouldnt want a tie bar nut snapping under braking. So be carefull.

I've had numerous bolts etc from Vauxhall for the front end of mine & its not expensive.

Well I'm struggling to find any information about this on the web so maybe you could tell me if I'll need a different nut for a high tensile bolt.

Aye, i'd definently go vauxhall to get the "proper" nuts.
Not the cheap plated crap B&Q sell.

There v.cheap anyway.
I think i only payed about 50p each for the suspension bottom balljoint clamp bolt/nut.

The head reads 10.9, I presume that is the tensile strength then. :) Unfortunately Vauxhall no longer sell these so I'll have to hunt for suitable bolts elsewhere.

imho i wouldnt put 12.9 bolts in as they might well be high tensile but theya re also far more brittle than 10.9 bolts... stick with 10.9's.

I was mainly drawing attention to the bolts ratings so people know to replace like for like & not dismiss the strength required/forces encountered in high stress areas.
