Brake carriers

Is there a difference between the two? I have removed them both for cleaning up but either seems to fit on either side so I was wondering if there's a difference. The reason I ask is because there's different markings on each one:

they are, one has a number 8 and one is a number 1 lol

Probably batch/mould/machinist numbers.
