Can any 1 please tell me what this is, its a bottle type thing under the passengers side arch, and is mounted at the front of the arch ?? wots it for

It's an active carbon canister, part of the catalyst system on multec models.

ive got rid of the catalitic converter on mine, i dont suppose i should get shut of this thing too should i? Would it make any difference to the running of the car

Mine was under the drivers side on my SRI and that is the side it shud be on. Rick

it holds the fumes from the tank and burns them when the car is at idle

so is that why they do such good MPG then?My 1.2 carb is poo on a good day! 200 miles to ?23!
But that is with a piper cam K&N, skimmed ported&polished head and magnex s/s exhaust system.
Any one else get any worse?
