Its it circular?, if so its probly the link for mainly non esential items to do with the on board computer n stuff and maybe the starter signal from the key.
The only wires u need to start the engine are Red - perm positive, black -accesory live (must be live when cranking), earth strap on gearbox, signal cables for starter and then there are the non essential for alternator warning, temp sensor, rev gauge.

No, we think its an importnant one gents.

Basically it has some thickish wires going into it, giving us this hunch. Never dealt with a late XE before, so its new to us!

The plug comes out of the injection rail loom on the gearbox side. There are 3 more, one goes to the knock sensor etc loom on the back of the engine, one goes to the coilpack, one in front of the coil pack. Leaving this one, it has 7 connections in a straight line, IIRC there is only 5 wires going into it though, it seems to be long enough to reach over to where the coil would be, so do these engines use ignition amplifiers at all?

Looks fairly important, any help much appreciated.

Paul

It goes to what looks like some form on module on the inner wing.
