in an earlia thread ive said that i have a 1600 bottom end.
what i wanted to do was put a 1300 head on a 1400 bottom end.
ive just been speaking to a mate who has been well in to his vauxhalls for years and he said that a 1300 head has been put on to a 1600 bottom end and worked.
would this work? or would the compression be out?

the compression would be a bit lower with a 1600 bottom end rather than a 1400 bottom end, but if you get the head skimmed it should be ok! just be careful how much as not to let the valves catch!

cool, il have a word with my engine builder and see what he says.
ive got a high lift cam also, its 320 deg kent, prety wild.
the head has been ported also, would this make a difference?
also have a vernia with the cam

Big Gra dont post if you dont know.... bad info is worse than NO info.

a 1300 head on the 1600 bottom end "might" miake the CR too high for normal road use, you will have to measure the CR (guide for howto in the 1400 tuning guide in my sig).

edit: jsut seen the cam spec etc...
a 320deg cam will need some large static CR to keep the dynamic one up..... still measure it anyway, its handy to know.

im going off what someone told me, because i was thinking of putting either a 1.3 head or a 1.4 head on my 1.6 gte!

hmmmmm still dont propogate crap info.... Learn about what CR is and how it works...Like overboring the pistons will increase it, removing material from the chamber will decrease it etc.

says i have a cr of 1.1?
i dont realy understand all this. is that any good?
i also dont k now about the head gasket etc

did you read the 1.4 tuning guide... rather than jumping striaght into the calculator lol.

1:1 is crap by the way. (like no comrpession)

Aye, youve calculated it wrongly.

How come your wanting fit a 1300 head? Abit of a downgrade tbh, depending how much work has gone into the 1300 head. What inlet system are you going to be using?

It WILL push compression right up, as the 1600 head chamber is "deep" compared to a 1300 head.

Use the headgasket to match the block size.

i bought the 1300 head to go on my 1400. but turned out the 1400 i bought turns out to be a 1600, there was no engine code on it, so i thought instead of getting another block, should i put this 1300 head on a 1600 bottom end

im useing a 300 inlet and weber 32/34

is this for the road rallying? are you engine class restricted?

yea its for road rallying, i want to be in the 1400 class.
just trying to get the most out of a 1400 to be honest. having a hard time doing so. each time i work on the car i get the rage!

so you cant use this block then...

yep, ive been looking in to useing the 1600 lump and going in to a different class, but its too much work. il be useing my 1400 in the nova at the mo. just needs a rebuild, then il fit the head etc to it.
thanks for the info anyway, see how i get on ;)
