Ok my dad went to view a BMW the other day which he was thinking of buying and when he got there he noticed the reg was had 999 in it.
Anyway he only told me yesterday about this so i asked why didn't he buy it. He said because it's unlucky to get a car that has 999 in it. so obviously i asked why and he told me some story about a couple years back their was a crash and the cars that got flipped over had 999 on their reg so when they was upside down it read 666.
I don't know if this is a true story or just a myth but was wondering if anybody else had heard about this?
Comments welcome but nothing stupid, thanks.
Who said that?
lol anyway, 666 isn't the "number of the beast", 616 is.
It may well be true, I don't know, or care really. Cars crash every day and I'm sure there have been a fair few with 999 in the number plate, probably just as likely for a car with 123 to crash really.

yes i have heard a similar story about a man that brought a ford Capri and the license plate had 999 on it any way the story goes he brought the car he crashed the car then rebuilt it
after rebuilding it he was crashed in to and nearly died so he rebuilt it again and is now to scared to drive it
no when i heard this story i started to think is it the curse of the devil or is the guy that owns the car a complete dick that cant drive to say his life :tard:

Typical i knew i shouldn't have bothered.
I ask a simple question on something i am actually curious about and all i get is stupid replies off people who are supposidly much more mature than me.
This is PNG not kiddies playgroup.
Since in the past were i have been abit annoying on here i have been changing how i act on here slowly so maby it's time some of you lot tried it out?
***RANT OVER***
Did you know that they also took the word gullable out of the dictionary?
come on, I bet every single number on a car has crashed, its not like only 998 crashes have only ever occured. Bet he looked at the car properly, found a defect but made up some crap excuse to save face or something
Ive had my fair share of accidents and insurance write offs, none of said vehicles had 999 on the plate. Not even the saxo i had, which ended up on its roof.
Its a wives tale, much like all those shells in Spain

Your not getting what i'm saying.
I am saying that their was a few cars that had it on their reg ...
And the point of this thread was to find out (if you read it) if other people had heard this before.
And if other people red it, it also says " Comments welcome but nothing stupid, thanks."

The car is already cursed by this point. There's no escaping the self-flipping car once it has had a 999 plate.

It would depend on how superstitious you are i guess? i'm into all that crap where things happen that have mysterious circumstances, but if you try a news archive site or something then maybe you could find out if it is true?
Can't find anything about the reg 999. Sounds like your dads just superstitious, most of us are to some extent. I've not herd of that story.
The haunted Capri is here (http://www.ark666y.com/)
999 is the flip side of 666 so should be the number for good and all things fluffy. I would love a car with 666 in the reg. My fave reg is S4TAN and would love that one on one of my cars.

One of my uncles has 666 on his private plate, he's a jammy bastid too!

You'll also care to note this is in muppet corner rather than general (car) chat. And you expect not to get "silly" replies? And just what are the silly replies? I count one and a half. Pick your toys up and stop sulking.
its a load of bulls poop lol

Just thought I should clear this up. RCs have only been given Moderator access for their region's section of the forum. They haven't let us loose with the whole forum.
oh, thats ok then as i was expecting baxter to just close every thread he could

K just got back from work thanks for most of the comments and i am superstitious myself some things myself.
its poop chap, seroisuly.
I very nearly bought a Celica with K666 DOA on the plate, and it was red. The only reason i wanted it was the plate mainly (Nothing to do with the night on 200bhp engine lol)
cheers RJ but you swore youd never share that pic with anyone lol

its not a private plate :D it was the factory plate :D as it was a UK car, and as jack says, boost for cheap :D IIRC it was up for like ?1600 or something :D
Yeah so it was an older ST185 GT4, but it'll run 250bhp+ with ease lol

Hmmm me thinks i may have to buy the baby a new plate now lol
I spotted my new plate last night :D so when im famous lol and people start reffering to my car via its reg, it'll be reet :thumb: lol (yeah who am i kidding! hahha)
I've never personally heard of the '999' on the number plate cars crashing, might be a regional thing as you live oop north and I'm a southerner!
One superstition I have come across is with green cars being unlucky, although there aren't that many green cars in the scrapyards - maybe they are all in the garages being repaired!!
There was a case a few years ago of a range rover with the reg 999FWD that crashed at the redgate junction of the A5 near Nuneaton killing a motorist. The reason I bring this up is because the range rover is a Four Wheel Drive & was been driven far too fast through the junction by the POLICE
999 FWD spooky or what.................
P.S.
Did he also tell you that the icecream van plays the music because it is empty & the lads at the depot can hear him approaching so they can get some more out of the freezer?
