Hi,

I have a 1.4 16v Nova and am having some troubles with the engine....
Today and was driving along and it started to miss occasionally. like you just dipped the clutch slighty. Still drivable, 30 miles later and after gradually getting worse it cut out and stalled. 2 minutes later it started and drove 100yards where I parked it and went to work for 7 hours.
Get in it to go home, drives ok for 100 yards then starts again, stalled, but started again striaght away. 1 mile later it stalled again. Phoned RAC who took me home.

At the moment the exhaust downpipe is blowing quiet badly, could this be causing the problem? [I've got a 4 branch ordered] with it confusing the lamda (sp) sensor?

What else could the problem be?
Any help, idea's or suggestion would be greatfully recieved.

Thanks in advance,

Miles

1st of all u must have an 8valve nova cus they neva did a 16v 1. It could b ur spark plugs, disributer. look under ur disributer cap and u may need 2 replace the spindle.

The easiest way to check is to look under the bonnet at the camshaft housing. Most vauxhall engines??? have about a 4 inch wide cam cover for 8v engines and more than twice that for 16v engines..

i take it you have done a conversion like i did when i put a 1.6 16v engine in.

do u have an ecu light? if so it shud tell you what is wrong. are you sure u have petrol in there? and are you sure there isnt any loose wires?

I don't think you understand. x-( It is definatly a 1.4 16 engine out of a W reg corsa sport. I bought the engine and paid for the conversion! X-(

Now, if anyone can give me any answers to my problem i'd be very gratefull.

Thanks

Full tank of petrol. The ecu warning light hasn't come on so I take it they didn't wire that up when they did the conversion. I can't see anything obvious that has disconnected. Do you think some sensor somewhere has had it?

I have found out the cause of the problem!!!!
I checked the spark plugs and 2 of them were f**ked!!! The white bit had broken off. They were bosch super 4's. Put the old ones back in and its fine.
