View Full Version : Catalic convertor?
Hmmm I have a 1993 nova luxe (carb model) 1.2
It doesnt have a cat on it, should it have one? i have a corsa one which I assume wud b fine?
Please help, I need to strike out as many things as possible for MOT! :thumb:
you dont (or rather shouldnt) have a carb model 1.2 after 1992ish... Its probably an SPI unit that youve gont confused with a carb (that or its had a 10bhp gain of an engine conversion done to it lmao)
My 1.4 '93 Luxe+ was SPI, and did have a cat.
IIRC the way to check is the number of bolt holes on the air filter. 2 = SPI, 3 = carb.
its a 1993 luxe on log book mate and its a carb model for sure!
manual choke, no SPi features atall lol
as said, check the airfilter mounting to the fuelling unit
Well i thought if it had a choke it was carb?
It doesn't look like this

Its this type

Took me ages to find them! lol
the top one is merely an spi with a mod to take a K&N 57i style induction kit.
the bottom pic is the same SPI type (see only two bolts holding the filter on)
Ah! i should have kept my corsa SPi bit to whack on mine...
I Just found out the Luxe Plus is a 1.2i with no manual choke, the Luxe is a 1.2 manual choke with no "i" ???
Who owns a Luxe on here lol
If airbox has two bolts its spi.
If it had 3 its carb.
NO carb engines have a cat.
ALL spi engines do.
That top pic is mine btw :) Lol
Edit-Damn iain beat me to it lol
Update!
It has 3 screws on the airbox, would explain the no cat situation then.
Surely 1993 would have one tho, strange but brilliant for MOT lol
That top pic is mine btw :) Lol
Yeah i know thought id steal some of the pics, and also stole a pic of yours for my "wanted" post for cesaros! :thumb:
