View Full Version : Colour coding help
I want to colour code the outer casing of the wings mirrors, the boot plastic around the lock, and maybe the handles
Does anyone know if the wing mirrors come apart or if they just need masking up? as i dont fancy trying to take them apart if they dont detach and end up breaking them
Its a 3dr K Reg MK2 luxe, and believe its in breeze blue (does that colour sound familiar? lol)
:thumb:
Yeah if you're only interested in spraying the back cover of the wing mirror then that part comes off, can't remember how off the top of my head but you should be able to figure it out.
Best off taking the handles and grab handle off to spray them.
And I thought breeze blue was an SR/SRi only colour, probably wrong though.

Yeah only doing the back piece of the mirrors to make it more factory look... i will a stupidly small flat head screwdriver and see if it prises off!
Will be taking the grab handle and handles off to spray for sure, it would be like spraying a boot and leaving the badges on else lol!
Heres a photo of an SRI in the colour I think mine is:

Its probably something like nordic blue, or cosmos blue.
You are brilliant!
lol cheers... plans for the nova are removing the door strips and doing half blue/half black to go with the bumpers, suttle colour coding in places, possibily get the rear archs done, new number plates, and want some 6 spokes alloys like u have, forgot the name of them already lol
Cesaro's! lol my mate just part ex'ed his car in with some and had them refurb'd not long ago, should have kept them but didnt know i would be having a nova :(
Do u think GTE/GSi skirts would look right on it with the black bottom on the sides ?

Nope.
The door strips are going but im bringing the black up obviously to line up with the bumpers
Don't suppose anyone has seen any pictures of it done? Just think it looks a bit naked without the skirts on
IMO if you're having the bottom half black, like SR/SRis, then leave bump strips on. Just my opinion though. There was a Nova posted up not so long ago but not sure whose it was sorry]
Edit, found it:

Ah good find! cheers! just cant picture it without the rub strips and still having skirts and black bottom
The only reason i removed the door strips as they were very tatty.
They were loose on the corners and the corners had bits torn off them, seriously they made it look nasty, so decided on the option of raising up the black line, as mine hasnt got vinyl it has just been sprayed on
I beleive this has been done once upon a time to cover up rust repair I assume
This is the kind of look im hoping to achieve with it, think it looks good without the door strips but still black

will look nice when you have done it. think you have put more effort into the car in the last two weeks then the whole 9 months when i owned it lol
lol i dont even notice that im doing it, so far ive:
Sorted suspension out
Got backbox bracket welded on
Minted the inside
Replaced all the bulbs (boot, glovebox, dash, ashtray etc)
Fitted bonnet cable
Fitted the rear speakers and new plastics to hold parcel shelf
Fixed grill until get a new one
Converted back to twin wipers again
Topped the oil and water levels up
Fixed the drivers window
Things to do:
Get a new heater motor
fix the passenger seat
put the new lock in
sort bumper out
then i can start colour coding and modding it! oh yeah theres another thing aswell this weekend MOT! will it stay..... will it go?
well im hoping to buy another nova in the next week. so if it fails on silly bits let me know and you can take it off the new one
