Where abouts on an XE is the engine number?

I need to order some service parts, and most ebay ads say "for engine number up to xxxxxx" or suchlike.

A pic of the location would be ideal, as I'm going to have to get Alex to look for it.

Engine number on the XE's is usually stamped in 2 places.

1. On top of the block - unless you have your cylinder head off you can't see this one.

2. On the flat edge near the front crank case breather pipe butted up right next to the gearbox.

on the flat edge mine says 0000-0000??? lol

V5 is the easiest place to look.

I don't have the V5, its a donor engine.

As Joff said, its on the flat edge where the gearbox bolts up. Also has the engine code stamped there too.:thumb:

As above or if you cant see it have you got the reg number of the vehicle it came from??? if so i may be able to help you.
