Did I pay to much!!!

Hello, I bought a nova gsi today for ?2300, its got gen 72k with full vauxhall service history its MINTED its the purple colour, no rust at all no ripes in the interior. I plan on goin down the c20let route and speedlines and thats it!!!

Saying that, I paid ?1500 for a mint SR in '04.

why did you pay so much when you could have got a mint shell for a few hundred quid and then dropped a 2ltr in it! i wouldent pay over ?2000 for anything unles its had a full rebuilt with pics to prove, i think everyone will agree!!

madness,, if youv got the money to spend then fair enough, but for me i can hardly scrape enough money together for petrol, let alone expensive cars and plane tickets!!!!! rant over!!!!!! :mad:

you weld the seams together in the engine bay, not in continuous runs though or youll bend the chasis with the heat, small inch long welds every fw inches should do the trick!

if your planning a 2ltr turbo then get a chassis strengthening kit!!

you could always buy the engine in separate parts if your rebuilding everything. or just look for one in a car already for around the same price as just the engine and then break the car to make some money back

av seen a cavalier on ebay that a might buy take the engine out and stick a xe in it. Ad rather get one on a pallet as a said b4 av not got the time to do that! :(

i bought a mint sri with 33k for 750 but sold it yesterday not as mint with 55k for 1200 a car is worth whatever somone will pay its hard to put a price on evaryones favourite rust bucket!

Sounds like a fair price to me if its as good cond as you say.

Yeah the book price is prolly ?600 (guess) but as nice ones are few & far between, I'd say price sounds reasonable. I bought my GSi in 99 with 96k in a slightly worn out state (bald tyres & knackered clutch) for ?2200. Going by inflation you got yours cheaper than mine & in a better condition.

Everyones a winner! Shame to convert one of the few remainders to LEt power & cant you think of a better wheel than Speedline Alessio? *

I agree tho about better off buying a base model and modding that. Once the gsi's engines gone, that just leaves the bumpers/interior/boot vinyl that have cost you the extra, probably about ?1500 extra. As you can find minters for not a lot of money, locally.

Recently a mint 1.2 spin was for sale round my area, ?595, genuine 30k miles, one owner(80 yr old) from new.

good luck with the conversion wish all of us could say money was no option to invest in a nova but we all hope to win the lottery lol, its a shame you are converting a mint gsi its nice to see them standard and still alive how they were ment to be as 1600 gsi's. good luck turbo's are awesome,but be better if it was left mint.
