Is there an easy way to de badge a mk1 front grill? or do i need to buy a whole new grill?
What, the standard gril with the mazac Griffon logo on the round plastic backing?? If so, no, you can get the badge off but the roundel bt is still there moulded onto the grill slats. You'll need a MK1 SR grill.

If so take the bumper off 2 screws IIRC to take the big ol' vaux badge off and you're done
