Where are you thinking about mounting it? You can pretty much mount one where you want. They don't have a BHP rating. All they do is provide a head of fuel for when you are cornering and the fuel goes away from the fuel pump.

Its not very big, 1.5 litre capacity iirc, there are much larger ones on the market but if done is running one in his (which is the same as the one shown below) then they should be more than adequate.

Dan, out of interest what tank and return pipe setup are you running ? not expecting any troubles from the one below but just curious.

Jon, I trust there is a facet type pump under the car to fill the swirl pot up...

Yes mate, I was going to mount it in the boot but rather than risk it not pulling the fuel out of the tank I fitted it near the filler pipe under the car.

Typically when fitting the filler hose it turns out its a bit of a 5hit place to put it so it does need re locating but for now it will do fine.

The car has been running though so the setup obviously works but until its used properly I wont know if it has stopped any fuel surge issues.

Roll on the ring !

It will work like a charm:thumb: Mine used to get problems when the tank was over half full. Not found the limit of where it is now but have run it under 1/4 of a tank with no problems.

ok i have heard you dont need one of these if you have a standard gsi injection tank as they have a swirl pot built in.
any pics of swirl pots under the car out of the way?

I would expect that with a suitilably powerfull engine (read that as consuming lots of fuel) that the std swirlpot "might/could" dry out on a long bend etc....

SP setups dont tend to go under the car (unless its got tons of space or a cut down tank) as the nova has next to naff all space under it for stuff like that.

I have seen various LET novas that suffer from fuel surge problems on track due to consuming fuel faster than the standard swirl pot can take.

The swirlpot wants to be above the fuel tank(Or more accurately the swirl pot return to the tank needs to be above the tank return) so that the return flows back in to the tank. Im not sure there is enough space under the car to allow the swirl pot to be mounted high enough.

Have you just got the one return to the tank Dar ?

Overflow on the swirl pot is the return to the tank, return from the engine goes into the swirl pot above the feed from the facet.

Not really convinced it makes a whole load of difference which way round itis as long as there is a continuous supply to and from the engine which there will be on the setup I've shown.

Yours is in the bay isn't it ?

I have one return to the tank. Mine is mounted in the engine bay. I've also been told a few different ways to set them up. Im still not conviced it makes a whole lot of difference.

My explination in the previous post was ment to explain that the fuel returning to the tank is/should be done by gravity and therefore not pushed in by a pressurised system.

Mines only got 3 connectors on it, so ive 'T'd off the return, so i have the return from the pot and the fuel reg both going back to the tank.

IIRC that is how Lee H has done it in his nova too, apparently there is nothing wrong with doing it either way so I just stuck to doing it as per SBD advise.

Time will tell if there is any issues, if there is then it will need some more aeroquip hose and fittings which for now would be good to avoid as there is plenty of others parts needing purchasing.
