in terms of power id go for 1.6 gsi/gte, but for convenience id stick a 1.4sr in there, its a straight swap with your 1ltr and a good improvement in power, if you go for the 1.6 theres more wiring to do!

as above. or get an mpi engine and put it on Twin 40's or 45's

Get a mpi engine and fit mappable management.
Much better.

Do you mean from a standard point of view, or with regard to replacing the existing fuel system (e.g. replacing the MPi on a Nova 1.6 engine with carbs)?

I'd say injection. Reliability and efficiency.

The small block 1.6 engine found in mk 2 Astras and Cavs was 88bhp, the GSI injection enigne is 100bhp out the box so to speak and won't need the fine tuning of the carb fed engine, you'll just have to get an injection fuel tank and fuel lines. Its undoubtedly a cheap, better base to build on and running costs will be cheaper as you'll get better MPG and it won't need to be taken to a gas analyser machine every so often to be set up (for example, for MOTs). IMO, I'd just buy a GSi/GTE but if you have a decent shell which is up to the job and have a bit of time, go for the conversion.

carbs everytime sound awsome and give more power, ive had my valver on botha injection and carbs and id never go back to the injection unless i could have throttle bodies

and give more power,
They dont tho... Lol
Throttle bodies are injection, which give more power over carbs.

Injection is far superior.

also its "possible" to eek 200bhp from an XE with its std inlet on..... which appears to be the normal limits of most carb setups. I know in competition they can get a bit more but then again the engine only lasts about 10 mins and revs to sillyK

GFo for bike carbs, you know it makes sense!
