I could be getting my Nova lowered 60mm with 195/45/15's on it

Might be a silly question but, will she rub? lol

Cheers, Vaughan!

Depends on what fitment the wheels are tbh, if there 6 or 6.5" wide with a 49 offset then you might get away with it, any wider or lower offset then you'll probly need to mod the arches.

Vauxhall Cavalier Expression Wheels -- ET49

Dunno about the width...I'd need to check

I thought expression wheels were 14s?

I took a grinder to the outer arch lip, and now mine dont rub at all, 195/45/15 tyres, et49 6j rims. They didn't even rub with another engine in the boot... Lol

I doubt theyd rub.

They'l be 45-49mm offset so you should be fine..

As to whether they'd look any good, youre the boss.

They look quite good when the car looks like a 4x4 -- And I've had some 'chops done of it lowered and it looks even better

Can't wait to see it in person :)

Cheers for the help, Vaughan!

60 will rub on the front while speeding through corners.

60 will rub on the front while speeding through corners.

Doubt they will tbh, i've got 15 x 7's ET45 with 195/45's with std arches and they don't rub, also had 16" speedlines & compomtives on std front arches without any rubbing.

it should be fine m8 if you dont go fast round corners. If it does rub it will be the front.

vaughan are you 15 now and are when does your summer holidays start.

My front wings are rolled, and the rear arches slightly grinded back, to stop 195/45/15 tyres rubbing, when 60mm.

This place is more & more like an after schools activity club every day!

IMO GM 15" alloys wont rub on a -60mm drop. The seam sealer/underseal in the rear arches is very thick, this can cause the scrubbing. Just carve it out with a knife & primer any bare metal.

195/60/15 is where its at lol

Will defineley rub, i've got the same set up on mine falcon ziex 195/45/15 , tsw apex r alloys in ET45 and spax RSX coilovers, rubbed on the front when you hammered it round corners which was eaisly solved by cutting and folding the arch lip back on the front wings, the back was a nightmare and i couldnt take any rear seat passengers, tried grinding back the arch lip a bit but it didnt solve the problem so had to beat the arch lip up with a panel beating hammer and a dolly, this sorted things out except when driving 4 up and hammering it round corners, not to be reccomended anyway though hey.

Mines are 195/45/15's but are ET49 and they don't scrub at all :)

And its been hammered round a back road and still nothing :)

My rears used to rub when it was lowered 60mm. On the outer lip.

Steve

Well this is all a bit confusing!

My a-reg only just cleared the rear arches with 185/45/15 cesaros on a 35mm drop.

And now same wheels on my d-reg 60mm drop with with 195/45/15 tyres and they're scrubbing! strange thing is the tyres are slightly up in the arches so I cant see where they're catching

195/60/15 is where its at lol
lol they're balloons. NOT tyres! lol lol

They might be rubbing on the shock absorber.

Adam

Manufacturing tolerances...
Rear width movement etc.

Steve
05-12-07, 12:34 AM
So whats the best way around it if it isnt rubbing on the arches?

Welsh Dan
05-12-07, 01:06 AM
I'd start with polybushes so that the rear beam isnt moving around too much from side to side, then consider grinding off the outer lip of the arch, and using a wheel spacer.

Steve
05-12-07, 01:25 AM
Ok cool, was going to do the arch lips first as that what it sounds like its hitting, if not i'll get some new bushes, are spacer readily available or is it something that'll need to be made up?

You'll get small ones at most motor factors.
