door vinyl removal

how do you remove the door vinyl? it is really stuch down, when i peel it a bit it just breaks and is doing my head in.

any sugestions

been told heat goun or hair dryer melts the glue.. might come off easier then

Heat gun may blister your paint if ya hold too close for too long but in all fairness ya paints gunna get it anyway i reckon

what is a fudge wheel and where can i get them from as i have heard about these before

i borrowed mine from a body shop, i dont think that it'd get vinyl off easily though but it took my pinstripes & bump strip tape off fine

hairdryer.

did the vinyl on my gsi boot, im assuming its the same on the sr sides.

after lots of fannying around i came to the conclusion that the hotter you get it the easier it comes off. take the hairdryer and work on a patch say 150mm x 150mm. you want it hot enough so it almost burns your fingers and it comes off in bigger pieces.

the paint underneath mine was spot on after, didnt need any touching up.

as yours is on the doors/sills, be prepared for when you take it off to find rust so you may need it painting anyway.

you should (!) get away without painting it
