I was going to suggest linking the contacts from the faceplate to the HU & mount the fascia in a visor. Joff did it.

Its actually not that hard to do, relocated the base unit in the glove box and re locate the fascia in the visor, the best way of doing this is to use telephone cable, however sometimes it can be tricky getting the eject button to still work okay with the base unit.

there are a few good ideas out there to work on for a hidden stereo. i have seen someone hide the base in the glovebox as mentioned already, but to put the face under the steering wheel on the little shelf. there are a few. i know of one where is stereo is in the boot of the car hidden under a false floor, then he controls it with a steering wheel remote whihc can be detached quickly and easily. have a look for pioneer steering wheel remotes.
