Good choice of sub. I've got the 10" W3v2D2.

Look on page 2 of the manual to see the wiring diagrams - if you wire the coils in parallel you should get a 2Ohm load. I would suggest an Alpine MRD-M300 (maybe an M500 if you turn the gain way down), 300WRMS @ 2Ohm 14.4v; 600WPMPO.

I use the MRD-M605 amp on mine; works well, but it'd be overpowered for yours. And don't forget to build a decent box for it :p

He's not wrong - the M300 only puts out 200WRMS when its running on 12V (i.e. when the car engine isn't running).

But then you'll only have the audio on with the engine off if you're sat in tesco's car park watching your mates drive their saxos into the barriers, or fancy a regularly flat battery ;)

Unfortunately, package deals tend to just offer products they can happily chop the price down on, rather than ones that are best suited, so can't be relied on for a decent match.

Also, JL and Alpine match well IMO as they don't overexaggerate their power figures. Alpine tend to be conservative on their power quotes, and JL more often than not quote the RMS power as the primary indicator of wattage. Not like JBL, Sony, Audiobahn etc.

Alpine recommend AWG8 on the power cable, and I think the amp has a 20A fuse.

Something like this (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1200W-8AWG-SPEAKER-AMPLIFIER-WIRING-KIT-FOR-CAR-AMP_W0QQitemZ290132987848QQihZ019QQcategoryZ14932Q QrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem) should do you good, although I'd say swap the fuse for a 20-30A one.
