Seen as the saloon will have a quad-light front panel on it, I need to find somewhere to position some front indicators. As I'm probably going to end up with an SR/GTE front bumper, I thought about fitting indicators into the bumper.

Only thing is, what would look good? Originally I was thinking about sourcing a set of bumper lights from a Vento/Golf3:

...but unsure on whether they'd fit right or suit the round headlamps. Any other ideas of what I can use? Would need indicators, foglamps and quite likely sidelights too.

Cutting a hole to stick some lights in is about as far as my body mod skills go lol

can you not fit some bulb's in one of the headlight's...
say just drill a hole etc?

if using golf one's, i'd go for the mk2 style personally, would suit the nova more than the mk3's

Agreed. Easier to fit as well, as the MK3 units are actually quite big.

Saloony, ta for the offer but I've already for a quad panel here :thumb:

Good call on the Mk2 indicators. I quite liked the fog + indicator block on the Mk3 tho, as quite fancy having some front fogs too you see. And yeah, I just realised tonight how large the Mk3 lights are when i saw one in a car park lol

As for the bulb in headlamp, there's a sidelight bulb in there at the mo, but its damaged the reflector on the back of the lamp so I was thinking about replacing it with a std lamp, no sidelight.

No worries fella, gotta try.

You need side lights to be legal, the indicator in the headlight we be legal, but, in my opinion totally crap, cos with the headlights on you can never see them working properly.

Agreed, ive nearly rammed 2 MK4 glofs because of them. Utterly crap.

Might be worth looking for something a little more rounded as your front lights will be round.

I can't think of anything off hand but will try.

I was thinking too much round might look a bit poo though. On the back fair enough, I think the round lights you can get in the QC viper rear bumper look good, but don't think something like that would suit the front.

Did consider something like Dolomite sidelights and indicators, work well with the round lights on them:

...think they would suit being mounted just under the standard strip bumper than actually cut into a SR/GTE jobbie though

What are the legalities for sidelights and indicators? Could you mount LED clusters in the strip bumper, and aftermarket fogs on the bottom of the front panel?

I did think about that last night, as there's not going to be a lot of room on the O/S of the bumper what with the towhitch there. I think that may well be the course of action - indicator and sidelight lamps in the top part of the bumper, foglamps underneath. Its still a case of finding suitable lamps though lol

http://www.speeding.co.uk/acatalog/Spot___Fog_Lamps.html You should be able to mount the top set in that link at the bottom of the front panel.

How about using the indicators from a motorbike?

Those lamps look quite good. I did consider some motorbike indicators, but don't really know any that'd look good.

You could wire up a relay (one per headlight) that turns off the headlight bulb when the indicator flashes and use the indicator in the headlight, so instead of flashing white/white+orange/white, it would flash white/orange/white.

That would just leave the problem of sidelights.

you cant mount foglights too low or too high. you'll fail an mot and be likely for hassle off the police.

i did a uni project and had to look into that kind of stuff, they have to be a certain distance off the ground and a certain distance apart. im sure if you google 'mot regs' youd find out the measurements.

also as a separate note for any chavs who have their foglights on in daytime, that is illegal (as you no doubt know......thats why you do it...to rebel and be dead hardlol ).

however, its not illegal to have driving lights on in the daytime. there basically the same thing (ie look similar) but they cast a different light out.....fogs cast low and wide about 6foot out. driving lights cast narrower and longer light similar to headlights. so if you really wanna have them on in the daytime make sure you buy 'driving' rather than 'fogs':thumb:
