View Full Version : Peesters Little Project: My return to novaism. (Lots of pics)
Looking good Dave, theres light at the end of tunnel eh! Will it make Billing though?
dave couldnt you use a tiny denso/nippon alternator to solf your clearance issues. ive got wiring diagrams here for the three varients of it if you do go that route. they are designed for higher revving engines aswell

i wish mazz but no 2 words,- martin bowyer
he still has my throttle pot, hose finishers and throttle bracket.
Those mounts are great value, well pleased with mine. And as Scott said, when they say solid, they are solid lol
Interior mirror etc vibrates when the engines idling lol
They are decent though.
Looking top Dave, engines looking very well. Shame you wont make Billing, but its going be well worth the wait when its done :)

Ad put some stick backed foam under the rear mirror, i did and now mines fine, no shakes in it at all now..
Sound, never thought of that, cheers :)

Real shame that you won't make it :( You coming along anyway?

thanks for the comments guys
john, it does just fit the engine very nip n tuck but it doesnt really fit the bay - its hitting the wing. I dunno ive not fiddled with it yet.
Mazz i hope to be there on sunday for the day.
good good - at least you coming along..

*Update/Help lol
Did or well, tried, a bit more today. Started well enough with more additions to the ever-filling-up engine bay..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/peester/DSC00235.jpg
But after about an hour of that it didnt really go to plan as i struggled on my own with the suspension. Fitted up the coilovers ok and did the usual bit of touching up along the way,
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/peester/DSC00229.jpg
But then the old o.e track rod ends i did maul and can't get those off :-(
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/peester/DSC002412.jpg
Also the rollbar/tie bar got me in a tizz. Now i left the rollbar on for the mo as a number of the fixings are seized too.. so its easier just to fit the lot and run one. But as i didnt really pay much attention months ago when we took it off; which way does it fit on??
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/peester/DSC00238.jpg
Like so; with the threads on the antiroll bushes U-fixings pointing up?
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/peester/DSC00240.jpg
Anyway, as said, i was there about 5 hours at it and got sod all done really so i do need a hand next time, also ill be picking brains tommorow at billing.
More soon, hopefully.
Have you cracked the nuts on the track rod ends? If not put the ends in the hubs and wind the nut on to hold it still. Looks from the pics like your trying to undo them while they are moving around.
peester
11-07-09, 06:26 PM
..forgot to mention this 'over-flow'(?) pipe on the stat.. ive just popped a vac hose onto it and it dangles onto the floor behind the valance..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/peester/DSC00237.jpg
that the right idea? no even sure what it did before...

hi rich, the lot of it is seized.. i am trying to undo the lock nut, tho tbh i wasnt sure which way it goes.. so just gave it hell both directions..
If your looking at it from end of the rack, the lock nut should go in a clockwise rotation to wind it onto the rack.
Get a spanner and a hammer on it, can be very tight. Alot of the time at work they need heating up, if you have a blow torch its worth a go. Definatly put it through the hib to do to hold it in place or your making alot of work for yourself.
Also that 'over flow' pipe usually runs accross the front of the rocker up to the header tank. If you leave it dangling its going to piss your coolant out as soon as its running :thumb:

Roll bar goes on the underside of the tie bars.
Looks well though.
peester
11-07-09, 06:55 PM
sound advice rich, thanks..
Rick, thanks too.
But the o.e nova header gets its return from the radiator, it has no where for that stat return too...?
Ill have a day off tommorow at billing , n go at it again fresh from monday.
Rick Draper
11-07-09, 07:05 PM
You will need to add a take off to the header tank or join that into the standard return with a T piece.
peester
11-07-09, 07:23 PM
join that into the standard return with a T piece.
yeah i worked it out in the end lol
ill take that option.

*update..
Managed to get the track rod ends off!! borrowed some big-ass adustable wrenches and more heat and yay it got there.
No pics of progress as the camera was dead since billing, ide forgot to charge it.. Anywho i marched on only to discover the new rose jointed ones make the wheels sit way way out, - toeing in each way like herbie or summat.. so a little chopping i think needs to be done before the they can go on for good and the car can then look like this for good lol.
After sticking the new r.j'ed t.r.e's on anyway i built the rest of the suspension up then, feeling like cheering myself up i cheated a bit and just threw some parts on.. just to get it back on its wheels for a day.. try those new front springs out. Excuse phone camera pics..

Anyways.. it sits low.. maybe too much lol
this is why im making my own, the small block double pipe xe ones are ****e, just to low
dave, you'll need to shorten the steering rack arms to get the toe right with those rose jointed things, so that means getting a die to cut more thread into the arm, then cutting the end off it, should be fairly simple, i had cut more thread into mine because of the castor i run, and you can get a good inch more thread on the arm before you hit the squared off section that is there for adjustment
peester
15-07-09, 07:02 PM
so cut more thread, only to screw the thingy on further to then cut the rack end off..
is it easy to cut a thread further, like easier than from scratch as you have a start point, or is it same..?
simples..?
yeah its easy, the die will run down(and clean up) the existing thread, then juts cut some more, there is a flat on the arm that is used for adjutsing, but even then you can grind that down a touch to remove the lip on it, so the die will keep cutting, it may leave a slight dip in the thread but that wont matter as the rest of the thread will be way strong enough, and it saves faffing about trying to cut and weld stuff
think its a M12 thread iirc
peester
15-07-09, 07:06 PM
..so your saying i need to thread past that little dimple..!? christ..
any facts n figures? lol
M12... so far..
i dont think you'll need that much, but i've never fitted a set of those things so couldnt say for sure, pretty sure its just a standard M12 x 1.75 metric tbh, as when i did mine i just went to the tool box for the die, i didnt need to get a special one

Not done one for a while as all things car havent been great, round t'unit.. so ive not much to mention other than ive been waiting for vital parts to show.

Big big thanks again to him for saving this project frankly; i lost my way with all this lark ages ago, he kept me on track again, today.
So, indeed, it appears im just a few lil bits n bobs away now from fire-that-engine moment. Im going to see how it goes with delivery of the remaining parts in waiting for, as really ive a deadline of the end of this month to get the car built-up enough to move it.
More again very soon hopefully.

*lil update..
Not updated in a while , had a few people asking how its been going..
ive had stress at work lately so not had as much chance to go up to the car.. or go to any shows.. :-( or anything really...
Anyway.
As it is im still waiting for bowyer lol.
If i had the time and knowledge to manufacture a throttle bracket then i guess i would at least have that done - but it still leaves me with an owed throttle pot missing..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/peester/DSC00414-1.jpg
Otherwise, been fitting and sorting all the remaining parts.. just bar fluids and mounting the f.p.r its ready.

Got all the bits!
FINALLY..
Not much else to say just time to crack on fitting it, but its been way too long since last update.
But keep eyes peeled, hopefully that running vid..
btw: pictured above is a throttle pot. with the voltage figures on the sheet of paper. And bowyers bracket/ball setup for the throttle cable, that enables you to keep the o.e nova cable and not need jenveys pricey throttle bracket assembly..

ummm so in theory this weekend then? lol
I purchased an Ashley flexi off ebay few years ago, seemed resonable. just make sure of the lenght you need and where they mesure from, mine was half the size I ideally wanted.

aye, well until i get it i wont really know but i deffo checked the measurements n that.. hope it does the trick.

*update - could well be last one of the year..
its not good news. Been struggling with attaining parts still.
Following on from last update the ebay flexi came twice wrong, so ive sent them both back and ordered from elsewhere on ebay; thats due today.
Im fitting it on my next day off and bleeding brakes.
Then following on from this thread:
http://www.pngclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=134444
I sent my throttle pot off to jenvey directly (rather than dealing with bowyer) and just been told today they'de move production of that/all throttle pots/parts to india and theyre making them wrong.
So at least a few weeks, probably in january- before i get my a new, complete one..
So one final twist at the end really.
Hope to be pleasantly surprised and it show up early, but whenever it does ill post the long awaited update as soon as..
Happy christmas and new year then.

lol.. mr bowyer too?? no ****..
anyway i just havent been told how these 'pot's fit/work.
Bowyers original pot got 'set-up' for me so all i had to do was plonk it on, but he supplied it without any fitting kit and it wasnt new..
so dealing directly with jenvey, they took the original incomplete one back and sent a new one out (like 6-8 weeks later) but they havent done the 'set-up' bit, even though i asked.
Hence this meh.
i wish i could afford throttle bodies :(

Now it starts & runs are you going to get Toovey back down for a once over with the laptop.
Just stick that syncrometer into each trumpet whilst running & see if all 4 are reading the same.

Thanks for the comments guys.. for me, at this time, it has been many a things over last few months..
Anyway; i feel compelled to carry on..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/peester/Photo0070.jpg
Today we got it manageing to idle on its own which was cool and i moved the car around a bit outside to position it more accessibly in our lock up.. First time its been outside in ages.. i tried to film some but was disasterous..
We also tried the sychrometer thing out. 3 and 4 read off-the-scale; over 20-30 kgs per hour or whatever it is..
1 and 2 read between 7-8 , ive no idea what its supposed to be; i dont know if looking on the software would tell me or has it be a phone call to bowyer..?
Im waiting for a cheque to clear monday to go and get the exhaust finished properly hopefully early next week, then i can carry on sorting bits out.
So might just give it its first wash of the decade tommorow lol
Dave, it doesnt really matter what the synchrometer reads as long as all four read the same.
There will be a a stop/balance screw in-between the bodies to balance them out.
Once they are reading the same then adjust the throttle stop to get the idle ok.
peester
20-03-10, 06:42 PM
ad - thanks, ide actually forgotten to ask the question lol.. ill do that before i wash it tommorow..
john- its minus its strutbrace and filters whilst i was trying to balance the bodies.. Its getting 90mm trumpets and a dome PX filter at end of the month - those carb stubby ram pipes arent the best and they only came with x1 screw for each one..
I do have an issue with one of the threads on the topmount - as u can see, in all this doing/undoing i think we've upset it a bit.. summat else i need to look at another time.

Given me some inspiation to do a bit on mine tomorrow.
Went to see my engine guy today & 'apparently' Toovey is coming next Saturday to sort my issues out.
As Adam says you need to get the synchrometer reading all the same or i suppose the air / fuel ratios will be wrong.

It runs badly; like its running on 3.. couldnt drive it over 20mph..
Originally since getting it to fire up u just couldnt tell what was going on as it was so loud so..
With the exhaust sorting its audible now ill post vids over the weekend, but need to look into electrics..
My fuel pressure gauge finally turned up today so can check that to my hearts content lol
Did you set the body balances??
That will make it feel like its running on 2/3

Hi Dave
Good to see you got exhaust done.
Here is link to SBD saying how to balance throttle bodies
http://www.sbdev.co.uk/Info_sheets/Multi_Throttles/MT_Throttle_bodies_balancing_procedure.htm
If you need synchrometer again you know where i am
Martin
Did you drive it down to Phil then Dave?
Even though you couldn't go over 20mph, i bet it was still nice to get back the wheel of it!

awsome work! the cav slabs look spot on
really? ok..
no we didnt lol
Yes mate because one cylinder might be on 20% throttle and the other 3 might be 50% throttle..... (big exageration, but you get the idea)
So its bound to run rough with them not balanced :thumb:

26-03-10, 05:45 PM
chris: yep i did drive there , made it just, with many heads turning such was the racket of a blue nova going 20mph.. and back again ,much better as it sounded more normal.. but still only 20mph-odd.. wanted to film the way back but forgot.
ok ad, ill check it out when i can, thanks again chaps

thanks again guys.. it still fairly slow progress tho lol..
*wee update
we have founda cause of the problem. The balance screw doesnt screw.. there is no thread on the t.b part for it to bite and move..
also we are struggling to get it to idle - with the screw fully in- it still needs a tad throttle , but i think once the balance has been sorted it'll idle ok.
So i have to photo the lacking thread area and email to jenvey as they dont believe me lol..
Once they believe me hopefully a new part will be winging its way out..
More at the weekend i feel.
peester
29-03-10, 07:25 PM
Pics of said problem.. Grub screw completely removed and ive ecked the clip out the way for access/photo..

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/peester/itblinkclose2.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/peester/itblinkclose3.jpg
The grub screw tries to go into the clip but lack of thread on arm/other bit stops it doing what i should do..
This is the balance screw..
Bugger, at least its nothing mega
btw, If you need any clearer pics let me know and i'll pop down any afternoon/evening
Tis a bit strange that!!
Depending on how far out of balance they are you might get away with a small bolt, and a nut on each side of that plate (to lock the bolt)
Or just tap a thread into it if youve got a tap/die set
peester
29-03-10, 09:09 PM
option 1 i dont think will work..
option is best, but have no idea what the thread is and im ****e at D.T..
will see what jenvey say.
Looks about M6.
Or drill it bigger and M8.
Does that clip definently not have a thread in the underside??
peester
29-03-10, 10:07 PM
lol pics must be misleading you its a tiney hole..
u see the hole doesnt go all the way through..?
so the clip (that ive moved on the piss in photo) is a thin C shaped think that just keeps them together..
its ok, i wont bodge about ,we'll see..
Like it, looking forward to seeing more pics.

*minor update
Jenvey told me to fetch the whole single 'body off and post it back to them for a new arm to be fitted so off it came and off it went last week.
In the mean time i decided to play with other minor detail bits that i enjoy doing and have missed doing: starting with the rocker/coil pack cover a piece of stainless bent round the coil pack as it were..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/peester/Photo0105.jpg
Also i was, with the more access now available, able to try my smaller, better, nicer alternator top mount..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/peester/Photo0110.jpg
Works and looks much more discrete than the bodged engine lift eyelet/bracket lol.
Finally i spent the rest of the day sorting the wiring loom in the car; was able to sort all the driver-side fit the fuse box back again all nice and back to being neat.. .
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/peester/Photo0107.jpg
Just the passenger side to do; once i can get at it..
But yeah, hopefully next time, after the weekend it'll be running again as ive taxed the car this week so its all road legal again lol.
We'll get the t.b back on a synched well-enough, finally..
More soon.
One thing that is bugging me lately tho, although its not a priority at the moment the stainless corsa manifold i run on the car just sits far too low; its too long for the nova engine bay..
Anyone know if the idea of having it shortened its too far fetched..??

Ok so, today didnt start well - having problems with the alarm - first job today was to get some fuel in it and as i left after putting some in- it just kept going off all on its own lol.. its a veteran toad thing - i had no idea what was best to do and had to wait until the end of the day to catch the local car security shop chap when he had 5 mins; he just disconnected the siren and it seems to have sorted it.. for now. So a pic of it there and engine bay, again lol whilst we waited earlier today :-(
But since then its been ok this evening; only scare is in traffic its getting too hot.. maybe the 1.2 old rad needs ditching.. plus a coolant system bleed.. also i guess it'll be better to run the rad fan off the ecu rather than old skool method its still on now..

What size tyres are on the rear SR steelies ? Are they 5J or 5.5J's ?
How do you mean too hot? Where does the temp sit when you are driving???
As long as the fan comes on half way and it then cools down, its fine
peester
27-04-10, 07:24 PM
Sorry CG, leaving the black bits i reckon.. ide then need to colour code the rear window rubber.. lol
Vaughan; 5J . 175/50 x14.. Got fronts coming soon
Ad; driving round normally - it sits in middle, as norm. Then if in traffic it goes up - it did switch on once, and was ok.. but second time it didnt i dont think (hard to here over engine lol) and gauge went higher into red, so i pulled over for few mins lol - ill run the fan off ecu.. just me bein lazy, just cant remember if its an earth making switch again or what lol

*Small update.. as its been a while..
Ive still had too much on elsewhere lately to make good progress with the car, as with pretty much since start of the year but slowly slowly things are getting there…
Picking up from last time, Toovey got the engine running sweetly enough and everything else, tho lacking setting-up and quite a ‘different’ feeling car to drive, all was working well. For a short period.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/peester/Photo0157.jpg
After a day or so and since, I have issues with the r.j’d short-shift linkage. It needs some bolts replacing for longer ones and one or two non-locking nuts have been used so I need to replace those- as it quite quickly loosens up. In addition its tricky to set-up correctly so will look into next. A friend suspected the fork on the F15 not being straight, I shall investigate anyway..
So MOT and PV prep.
That is all that currently stopping me, from what I can see, getting an MOT which is up in next few days.
Ive had the tie-bar miss-hap sorted by getting it drilled out and re-tap’d. I also took a few mins to straighten the valance/slam panel as after hoisting the car up during engine conversion it’d kinked the bonnet gap slightly bigger.. anyway, practically O.E gap again now.. Then i just need to get to the bottom of a small coolant and oil leak (later seems to be from sump plug).
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/peester/Photo0145.jpg
Once MOT’d ill be running the car as it is to PV, with that being so soon.
After PV im hoping to get the Piper exhaust manifold modified and to complete the look- the cage I bought from mazz - just to have something in the back really; needs some work on it before it goes in.
More soon.
Looking good, can i post a old pic to help with your interest?

*Update.
So MOT prep. Not a great start - ive pre-occupied my little free time as it is with buying an ebay shed as new daily hack..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/peester/Photo0174.jpg
I needed it. The non-vaux i was using before was just making me go mad, it was deeply crap, so this is slightly less crap. 67K, 2 owners, small block 1.8 won for £285. Needs idle sorting, windscreen and tyres for MOT. Im getting alloys (vaux. ones) @ weekend.. then sort the rest after.
Anyway, the nova.. mot.. for pv..
Ive mainly been doing those odd jobs i couldnt get round to doing before.. mainly tidying/sorting.. legalities i guess..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/peester/Photo0188.jpg
Ive relocated the 'catch-tank' and 'attached' it so it doesnt move about - much better there, bit more hidden - shows the 'box off a bit again.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/peester/Photo0189.jpg
I then sorted the wiring loom/bulkhead area that tbh has been a bit 'overflowing bin' look to it. Much better now.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/peester/Photo0198.jpg
Finished, in fact. Mounted the two amplifiers all properly.
So i guess its this area generally that saw the attention, changes..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/peester/Photo0202.jpg
I have finally sorted the lark with the rad fan output from the mbe.
I still ran the '89 carb - spec. non-relay'd fan wiring setup. So there is no existing relay to go to. So im going to make one. I work @ electronics place no so no excuse, lol. I have diagrams and may do one of those 'how to guides' as many nova owners up grading to stand-alone will need to do this.
Once thats in and sorted i can go MOT. Fingers crossed with the emmisions lol.

ive no idea martin, does it..?
wish i knew all the earlier, lol
You will need somebody more technical than me to answer that one, but i thought that was the lambda sensors job to control emmisions.
If yours aint connected that maybe why your off the scale.

Got an old PC setup in the lockup today, played with injector mili-second values .. i think lol..
In order to get those CO's down.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/peester/Photo0208.jpg
I took 20% off the figures @ site 0 and 10% @ site 1, between 750rpm and 1500rpm.. :-s
Im booking it in at the same mot place for a quick emmsions check, if its any better (or lower) than last time but not quite enough then back to the pc and lower them a bit more. I doubt ill have got the car good enough 1st time but if i have: theyll carry out the mot retest. But most likely try again friday. If no difference, the sod it i give up lol.

Yeh it will!! I Cant belive it will be running very well without it either!!! The lambda sensor informs the ecu as to weather its running rich-lambda 1-lean via a small voltage ranging from 0.2 which is rich to 0.9 which is lean! Get the lambda sorted out!!
Other than that looks good mate!!

lambda sensors are needed for setting up, but you dont have to run them full time i dont think..
Ill get some lambda sensors too lol
lol no wonder your fuelling is all over the shot. Stop messing around with it and put an o2 sensor in!

NO you will need the lambda sensor all the time! It controlls the day to day adjustment of air/fuel ratio!
When you have more air at higher speeds your ecu will adjust this via a few means of reading the air flow. air mass meter/map sensor/lambda sensor etc it is vital it is used if that is what the engine is set up to be used with!:thumb:

there are ways of controlling air and fuel on the software anyway.. to a degree. but yes in an ideal world..
anyway; i went to test the emmisions today after our 'mot-map-modification' and its dropped to 5. So near, but not quite.
I managed to reduce the figures furthermore, but then the readings were higher again, nearer 9 so ive reverted back to what scored 5 and been a little more subtle with the reduction. Try again tommorow.

What are you doing to the map? I would be very very careful as to how much you cut the fueling as you really dont wanna be running it very lean!!! You will have worse problems than emmisions! Iv not been folowing this thread so dont know what managment you are using so the lambda might not be needed however i cant see why its not be included in the map. Why dont you get a lambda sensor and try it?

Tbh im not clued up enough to give u a reason why. Ive just never been advised to get a lambda, until now by u lot lol.
I am being safely looked after my bowyer throughout this so dont worry too much, i am aware of adjusting fuelling too much fore/aft.
The map is one of martins (bowyer) proper fully dyno'd, originally for Mike Turpin's yellow rallycross nova but just limitered more.
But yeah, now i just want the thing mot'd for the pv show ive got tickets for and planned for weeks..
Ill do-the-lambda until my hearts content after.
Plus not to mention: If i cant get it to pass and miss the show then no biggy; ill order a lambda (£75) book it in for manifold modification and fitting of boss etc (£100+) then go to a rolling road for a proper full on session. (£450)

Lambda £30 ebay, manifold port £12 ebay (i fitted one on mine, see my wip) Then as it's got a MAP to start with, just to re map will be no more then say £300...So lot less stress then you think dude, and is it using MBE? if so you DO NOT NEED the Lambda for daily running etc.
Hope you do git sorted for MOT really want to see it on Sunday.

no mate, no hi jack, thanks for the input - you are right a lambda sorts issues like this out, just a little late in the day for me now lol
i hope so too. visit back.

*Update.
Best i do one of these really, despite little change/development, even though its been over 2 months since last pointless update lol!
Ive been preoccupied with a career change- has taken up most of my time.. also i kinda needed a break from the nova as it was getting me down a bit all that mot crap..
Proof its still alive..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/peester/Photo0324.jpg
Im currently acquiring the parts and info needed to complete this stage - something ill be doing over winter now- ill go into this more in time.
X16xe sump.. this is going to a fabricators on friday to discuss chopping it a little..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/peester/Photo0328.jpg
X16xe SBD Exhaust Manifold.. a little 'early' with this as ive not collected it yet lol but this, once altered, is replacing the piper manifold.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/peester/Exmani3.jpg
To this ill be adding new braided fuel lines with aeroquip connectors and fitting that walbro/sytec fuel pump and sytec filter ive had a while.. also a mild pair of CATCAM's. Then of course mazz's illusive half-cage.. lol.
Until then i think im goign to try get some more use out the car , with whats left of the summer.. So an MOT re-try.
So this weekend, i finished sorting the gear linkage and set it up.. gave it a good bit of locktite lol.. Then once ide had news my 'correct' backplate was in - i first needed to build the air-filter assy. back up.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/peester/Photo0344.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/peester/Photo0348.jpg
New 90mm ram pipes, backplate and dome filter. Both Pipercross.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/peester/Photo0350.jpg
Sounds quite different to the old stubby rams/sock combo...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/peester/th_Video0039.jpg (http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v11/peester/?action=view¤t=Video0039.mp4)
Much smoother, deeper.. May well feel bit different too, on the road.
I had to bleed the brakes as i had a losse/weeping knackered nut on one of the front calipers, so replaced it and filled the system back up and bled it - ill take it out round the block tommorow.
More soon.
Get the linkage sorted easy enough then?

yep, well ill take it round the block tommorow but shifts as it did on the spot in the lockup, i did wriggle it forward and back.. all seems good.. thanks for your advice dude - i understand it now lol.

Nice update mate, and im glad you got it sorted on the trumpets/filter etc.
Nice BTB manifold, so your hoping for MEGA power then??

cheers scott.. the manifold is an improvement in design, over the piper one i opted for originally (4-2-1 instead of 4-1) but in addition it will sit 6-8cms higher off the ground than the piper manifold does - thats the main reason im trying to buy it- plus i think its better made and has a boss for lambda sensor - which again, the piper didnt have, and i need for future mapping.
But i hope it'll gain more bhp/torque once swapped over, of course..
Good work Dave, I assume you will be chopping that sump up to make more clearance? won't the SBD/BTB one be ok with the standard sump?
ps let me know when you want that cage!!
Top stuff dave! Manifold looks awesome!

chris, more nipping the bottom of the sump really and no its not for the manifold to fit , its designed for that sump - its just to get a lil more road clearance lol while its not fitted to car yet. At its lowest point; the x16xe sump is only bout half an inch shorter than the existing z18xe sump so just looking to graze a bit more off.. we'll see what quotes n that come back..
the cage- i work next door to your house lol, (dunno if i said..?) so how bouta night in the week? i pop over after my shift..?
The cage is still at Dad's :( How is the job going? On shifts yet?
Any night next week is ok with me, just need a car to fetch it in though..might have to nick Tina's Nova...

Will do a lil enquiring over next few weeks how much to swap them over.
Though i wont be fitting it until during its off-the-road over winter. So no more of this hanging down like a sack of spuds..

Who put your side repeaters down there btw? Doh!

yep that was the problem cg, hence all this effort with manifold number 2.. and the sump lol..
i run the car low, this is how it came off the jacks after engine conversion..

so bit of jiggery pokery now, well, over winter - and should have my cake and eat it next year lol
