Right guys iam stuck i took my car to anouther rolling road yesterday and the results are good and bad. My last rolling road readout was 113 bhp @5921 rpm and 110 lbft @4138 i thought that was really good and was uber chuffed. Anyway my recent readout is somewhat different but not far off it reads = Max Power =105 hp @ 5033 rpm and Max Torq = 150nm @ 4018 rpm:eek: 150nm that is tourque is it not!!!!or its a different word or measurment for it:confused: Anyway i told the tuner that it previoulsy had 110 lbft and he said thats rubbish and is deffo doing around the 150 mark. But he said it has probs its running rich low down and a nut was missing off my throttle linkage(explains dodgy unblanced carbs sometimes, has been fixed now) Second is that he suggests to get some decent platinum plugs in there as iam still running normal plugs. The third is that my compression is low at 50-75 and should be well over 100?? he thinks its the lifters and the third and final point is that its to rich needs different emulsion tubes airs and mains as a starting point. Iam lost cus the car runs fine and goes well but i do want the extra power if he can get it after the work he carrys out. realistically what do you guys think is a resonable power output for my current setup and what it is capable of putting out??? And iam confused about the torque readout 150 nm @4018 is a lot is it right.

For you guys who dont know my engine spec 1400 8v twin webber 40's 1600 gte head (ported polished and skimmed) matched to irmscher inlet manifold, newmann cam, facet electric fuel pump and regulator, rebuilt bottom end with new shells and arp bolts, 4,2,1 manifold and system. So can someone shed some light and soz for the long thread

110lb/ft IS 150nm, lb/ft is the imperial unit, nm is the metric one.

Me thinks the old torque reading was done in Lb/FT, new one is in NM which is a different scale.
150NM=about 110 lb/ft

The standard plugs are no doubt fine.

DOH-beat to it,Lol.

If youve had it setup tho, it should not be running rich.... How reputable is the tuner? He might just be trying get a bit of cash from you tbh, Lol.

if you have never had the carbs setup correctly the that could be the problem, had mine done at bogg brothers and it felt fine befor it went in but after it came out it was a totaly different animal he realy got the most out of my 48s

I dont know hpw reputbale he is the company is prima racing and they deal in french cars normally. To be perfectly honest i dont know if the first tuner that i used to go to is honest??? you cant tell these days. I mean 113 isnt bad and 110 lbft is really good it seems fine to me but i really dont know much about these things iam getting mid 16's pn the qaurter mile in full road trim so everythings fine for my spec. I dont wanna make it ultra lairy and go balls out with bigger cam and more headwork as i use it evary day and it needs to be driveable. What would the lifters do if i got some solid ones and why does he seem to think the compressions down wouldnt that make the car **** to drive??? Any advice would be great and do you think its worth doing more work to the engine is my current spec respectable:confused: The weird thing was is that when i took the car down there it was running fine and idled properly after he did the run it ran like **** and mentioned there was a nut missing???? seems suspect each time i think about it???

to be honest that power sounds fine.

AND IT DOSENT BLOODY MATTER THAT THEY USUALLY DEAL WITH FRENCH CARS FFS

I know it dont matter that they tune frenchy's i was just wondering if anyones heard of them. I know the power sounds fine i just feel the engine might be capable of abit more but i know the only cheap way for more speed is stripping the interior. And for more bhp what could i do i have asked this question before what could i do t get more power, without making the car undrivable:tard:

I would have expected to see more on the compression, this suggests that you need get a leak test done on the engine, find out where your'e losing compression. If the bottom end is fine, recut the seats and valves to get it back.
The engine seems to be making decent enough power and torque, so it should only get better with a bit of a fettle.
Fit solid lifters for better response and get the whole package set up properly.
Are you using 8v pistons?

To get more power, better cam, headwork.
Will be pushing power further up the rev range tho.

Tbh for the road, i'd leave it as it is, as its a nice "road" spec.

Bare in mind that rolling roads differ on readouts, some are optimistic and others are conservative. From a true tuning aspect its best to use the same rolling road to get a real idea of how your car is progressing. However there are other variables to consider eg tyre pressures, ambient temps etc will have an affect on the overall reading (however minor or major).

Was is properly compression tested? Those figures do seem a bit low to me.
