i am putting twin 40's on my injection 1400 the now so i have a fair idea...

you need twin 40's and inlet manifold to suit the engine, you do away with all the wires from your carb on the xe as the 40's dont have any..

you also need a carb'd ignition setup (mk3 astra/cav i think, correct me if i am wrong)..

i would advise re-furbing the carbs aswell..

what other mods has the engine got (20xe?) because 40's will restrict it to about 160-165bhp

The xe loom is removeable.
So just remove it.

Keep the starting/charging loom.

Fit a carb dizzy system.
And a suitable pump/regulator.

you wotn gain any top end power per say on 40's with an XE BUT you will gain stacks of midrange torque, which is nice.

Sorry, i assumed the xe was fitted and running.
If its not, just fit the engine without the ecu loom.
Fit the nova starting/charging loom.

Then the carb dizzy setup.

An old cav/astra one from the 1980s.
Must be from a carb model.
