what can it be ?

a rattling tapping sound from front left hand side of the car. It does it all the bloody time (when moving).

what could be broken or on the way out.

I would say wheel bearing mate and i wouldnt drive it about if i was you till u get it fixed

sounds stupid but have you checked the wheel nuts are tight?
i take it you have checked all suspension bolts, tie bar, antiroll, steering rack+ tie rod ends, control arm and that your caliper is tight??, i've had the caliper come loose before and it shit me up.
jack the car up and see if the wheel runs free ( not touching the caliper etc) and see if it wobbles which would suggest bearing but its the wrong sort of noise.
failing all that see if the drive shaft wobbles in and out (it should do but not too much) and cv bearings. i think covers most things in that area - have fun!!
