i need to know the engine code/name (14nz or something like that)...

i am buying a headgasket tonight for my 1400 1992 h reg spi and need to know the engine code..

note: i am putting a 1300 head on it if that makes any difference. cheers

C14NZ
14NV
Both have the same gasket. Just ask for one to a Nova 1400 8v SPI, 1992/1993.

Stuart is the man for head. lol

C14NZ is the engine code for a 1400 SPi; 14NV is the 1400 carb.

mmmmm i love head....

the 1200 head as std flows a touch better than the 1300 item. BUT the compression ratio from the 1.2 head on a 1400 block might be a tad too much to be sensible.

see 1.4 tuning guide for how 2 measure CR.

ah, i am putting a 1300 head on my 1400 as i know that works pretty well..

but in my other nova i was planning on putting a 1200 head on my 1300 block.. will this work? is it just a case of bolting it on and fitting a new headgasket.. cheers

and also i have got the pulleys/timing marked so do i just remove the bottom pulley and unbolt the cam belt cover then the top pulley off and take the headbolts out and then to put it together just do that in reverse order? how do know the timing it right? thats the only thing i am worried about is setting the timing and putting pulleys etc back on. cheers

phil used to run a 1.2 head on his 1.4 and it went like billie, was a fair few years ago, used to take it to york raceway and there was a lad with an sr running twin 40s that couldent keep with it, just had a capri carb on a home made adaptor plate for the manifold

mhh, well am going to run a 1400 with 1300 head, highlift cam, twin 40's, 4 speed box, alloy vernier pulley, 4 branch manifold and a powerflow back box...

then on my 1300 block i am running a 1200 head with 1300 SR manifold, 1300 SR inlet manifold and carb with K&n and ashley system...

i think this will work ok???

will the 1300 gasket be the same as the 1400?

?8 a bolt???? Are they gold plated??

Should be 70ish pence each at a guess. You need new ones as the y stretch upon first tightening. Yes old ones will work but cant be relied upon for correct torque.

Get NEW bolts from a factor or Vauxhall.

The gasket will blow if you use the old bolts as the torque setting will be wrong.
13 hg is different as the bore size is different.
