I need to replace my alternator on my 89 gte asap is it a big job tricky to get off etc?
And will i be able to get one from any nova corsa ? or are they different on each model/engine size?
Any help would be great
Cheers in advance

Really easy job, get one off a Nova/Corsa.
Disconnect the negative terminal on the battery before you start, then disconnect all the wires from the alternator, then undo the top bolt, slip the alternator forward and the belt off it, then undo the bottom bolt, pull the bolt out of the lower bracket and lift out the alternator. You might need to swap a ring terminal for a (female)spade or vice versa depending on the alternator you fit, but thats only 20 seconds with the snips and crimps :).
You'll probably only need 10 and 13mm spanners, a ratchet and a 13mm socket :).
Any similar aged single-v engine one should fit.
Later corsas had a different mount.
Also it might be a slightly different amp rating.

only takes as long as changing a battery, just as easy too!

Its worth grabbing the adjustable top mount from a corsa (if they fit lol), I intend to get one for myself because I can't stop my belt squeaking in the wet lol.
