What are the gain of having this done? How much does it cost ?
do they just use the original flywheel?

cheers

Im not 100% sure but i think it allows the engine to rev more? Correct me if im wrong anyone? Yes they can use your original flywheel

it will rev easy and quicker if its just a lighten and balance they will use your exsiting one

Get it done somewhere reputable, i wouldn't want a fly breaking up at 6000rpm because it had been weakened by some company who thought they knew what they were doing.

The gains are just the engine "pickups" better.
What engine is it on?

balanced in relation to what?....... a flywheel balanced to itself can be WORSE than a std one (which has been balanced btw). As the new balancing might throw off the cranks own balance....

your "best" off getting the entire rotating assembly balanced to ensure its all safe/good

So for eaxample, a Fidanza aftermarket flywheel wouldnt necessarily be particularly well balanced when offered up in positiion on a crank??

there is a chance of that...

if you look at lots of the K-Series tuning info some of these "balancing" companies made the crank + fly weigh more (in terms of unbalanced inertia) than the entire engine)

chances are it would be fine balanced on its own, but its one of those unknowns really... depends if your happy chancing it

Is it being used for road or track use? a mate of mine did his and he claimed after this it was struggling like frigg to get up hills???

yes this is the drawback of running a lightened fwheel. loss of momentum almost. when the road or track rises. this of co**** depends on how steep the hill is, what revs ur pullin what gear ur in and the actual power and torque curve of ur motor

I got my old E16SE fly lightened for ?20 + VAT at a local engine rebuilders. Made a big difference to how the car revved and engine responded. I didn't notice it pulling any less up a hill, but then it did have 120lb/ft. It will only really affect very low torque-output cars, which need the inertia from a heavier fly.

I had my crank, flywheel and clutch all done at the same time from this chappy i found in the hills that build F3 and touring car engines. took a decent chunk out of my flywheel maybe 2kgs and ballenced it all up - ?60, very good deal :thumb:
