I did mine to free up space under the car and to allow easier routing for a bigger bore exhuast pipe. Apparently they also firm up the gear selection. Although I cannot confirm this because I also rose-jointed my linkage at the same time as putting in the cav shifter. Makes a very nice feeling gear change.

Have a look here ... http://www.pngclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=67853&highlight=shifter
It will work with an F28 no bother as it just connects to the Nova linkage like the origional did.

Mine was from a Calibra Turbo, but as far as i know all the Calibra / Cav shifters are the same.

As said any cav/calibra shfter will do. I just mounted mine where I wanted it and then cut the excess off (3"). As for the hole that has to be made for the internal linkage the competition build manual says this :-

Once the carpet centre support has been removed, an elongated hole, approximately 80mm by 25mm must be formed in the centre section of the floor panel, along its centreline, starting 80mm rearward of the tunnel to bulkhead bodyseam. This is to give access to the engine bay for the revised gear linkage.

anyone got any pics of both ends?

Both ends of what, the shifter ??
All you need to do is chop the s shaped bit off the end of the rod on the Cav shifter, chop the rod off your old Nova shifter then you'll have to figure out what length you need it (bolt the shifter down and have a measure) then just weld them together, as long as its straight then you'll be fine.
Only other thing you need to do is remove the centre carpet support and cut the hole for the shifter rod to pass thru, remove the bracket for the Nova shifter & plate over it.
Job done.

i made my hole 30mm wide by 90mm deep, so i can put some black edging around the hole but its up to you.
