i have bought my old nova back, but the boys shed was broke into and his toolbox was nicked and the nova keys were in the top of the toolbox..

so, i know about the trick to get the ignition on but how do i do away with the steering lock?

i want to do away with the steering lock altogether and have a switch/master switch for the ignition, then a push button start.

its going to be a track/autotest car.

so, how do i wire in a toggle switch for the ignition?
its a spi, so i presume there will be one or two wires for the fuel pump and the ingition? what wires do i wire where? what colour are they?

then how do i wire in a push button start?

all help will be much appreciated. thanks,
Greg

yep as above. if it only for track use then it wont matter really. just put a steering lock on when parked up

for the igniton. just use 3 wires. obviously strong enough, i.e 10 gauge or heavy duty speaker wire.. then run a wire from the the permsnent live, and the ignition and earth to the switch.. if you have a 2 spade switch on the back. join the igniton and the earth on one point and then obviously the perm live on the other..... flick the switch and ignition is on...

to start the car, you can just simply get a big push button, psuh only not a on off push switch.. make sure its capable of holding a high enough power. i had one few year ago in a fiesta that was roughly an inch round from maplins.. 2 spades on the back again..... now i used to lengths of 10 gauge power cable to the starter motor. one to the positive one to the negative obviously, push the button an it crosses the power and it will turn over. but obviously will only work when ignition is on. you can run it through the back of the igniton barrel too however i cant remember the colours of the wires for which are which. use a multitester or a piece of wire and the interior light bulb to find out what wires are which.. any probs witht he above understanding it let me know. its fairly simple

i want rid of it! will this do any other damage to the steering etc?

cheers, Greg

if you have lost the key, the lock barrel on the hatchback has a sticker with the key's code on it. you then can get a key anywhere
