I will be travelling circa 13 miles each way for my new job.

I need something reliable, not too old, cheap to run and insure... and most importantly cheap to buy. Circa ?750 would be ideal.

Any suggestions.

NOT A NOVA. lol

Thing is, a decent Kona would set you back more than ?750 lol

How about a diesel Passat? Or a Honda Civic, Toyota Carina... I would suggest astra diesel or 306 durbo, but can't really comment on the reliability of either

I would suggest that if you don't have a firm idea of what you want. Then jump on to eBay and see what you can get for your ?750

dirty old rover 200 thats what a few lads at work run

failing that good old fezzy mk3 can be had for about 250 - 500 with tax test and rot

its all dependant realy on wheather your bothered what it is and how you look in it

A Mk3 golf, I'm not sure which engine you'd want though. They are a fairly solid car, good occupant safety compared to other cars of the same age, reliable and the 1.6 petrols and 1.9 (iirc) diesels are surprisingly parsimonious.

Fcuk it, I know EXACTLY what you need.

And when you're not commuting, you can play a spot of Segway Polo

You will EASY get a nice comfy Corsa 1.2 for under ?750 :thumb: with tax & test too ;)

They cost naff all to run, unless there out of oil for about 2k miles, then they really do drink the fuel ;)

I've seen a reasonable polo locally that i might have a look at - its a bit more than i wanted to pay, but can get car and insurance for under 1300 quid, so not the end of the world.

There is also a 1.0 corsa :D but not convinced it'll have enough grunt to get my sizeable frame up a hill.

Theres a Ford Ka for sale near Holt for circa ?600, I can get more details if you're interested as it belongs to a friend of a friend.

Yeah, please mate.

Age, engine, mileage, colour & condition - and if there is any MOT/tax, would be awesome if you could find out for me.

I dont really care what i'm driving as it will only be to work and back, stopping off at college on the way home two nights a week. Just something cheap and reliable.

I'd find a good cond mk3 Astra. Should be able to get an Arctic model with aircon for that money.

When not hammered into the ground they are pretty respectable cars. I'd have one over a mk3 Golf anyday of the week.

Pug 306td, I picked a 100k miler up for ?400 and it hasn't missed a beat and is nippy for a diesel and surprisingly good on juice. I travel 60 miles roundtrip to work and I put ?40 a week in and depending how heavy footed I am sometimes doesn't use all that.

wisewood

finding something with respectable mileage and long mot is the main hassle at the moment.

i dont care how bomb proof a car is reputed to be, if its done 120k miles i dont bloody want it lol
