Why would my oil smell like petrol, would it be because the the valves are knackard? also the engines is missfireing up rev range, i've tryed plugs, leads, cap, rotor arm, coil.it stills missfires??
When i took the distributor off there was greyish oil. Could the headgasket be on its way out on the engine thats why its missfiring???? or the distributor is broken?
The engines a C16SE with R1 carbs
any ideas?

Overfueling wearing the piston rings, letting oil/petrol mix.

Who set the carbs up?

Do a compression test.

White/Grey oil could be headgasket going/gone, which may cause misfiring.

Test it at WOT(wide open throttle)
And see what results you get back then.
