ive got a mate who has a mk 3 astra 1.816v sport, and it is rapiiiid, are they god engines to put in nova's, casue as much as i like the 20 litre 1v, insurance is more, and ive bin put off a bit by stories of them bein to heavy, and killin the hadling etc... wot dya think??
and is the astra sport engine very moddable ?? ie throttle bodies etc..

As far as i know the 1.8 16V in the Mk3 Astra is a big block engine, as is the 2L 16V, so you'll have the same problems as putting in a 2L. I'd imagine there weight is pretty much the same.

The new Corsa SRi has the small block 1.8 16V which i would guess would fit in the Nova without too much hassle.

Not totally sure about this but hope it helps anyway.

yes they are a big block engine same as 2.0 ecotec.

1.8 16v corsa engine has all sorts of probs for the conversion... coded ecu that is coded to clocks and keys for starters!!!

that 1.8 16v small block will be mint when they bring out a throttle body/weber 45 kit for it :)

But until then the 1.6 16v will do (when i got enough money to fix it)

with regard to the TB kit its just a matter of choosing the right bore and then making an manifold for it and getting a prog ECU :)

the corsa engine is the xe18 xe1 sv [small vauxhall] engine. you get these in the later vectras 99on. I have one in my nova and it is pretty quick! the engine goes straight in, same mounts and drive shafts but the wiring is hell! The car isn't properly on the road yet but the engine is a good one, it's quite hard to get hold of them and they are quite dear!
