My premuim is expensive:( ranging from ?849 - ?2000+

i need the cover to start in july, i will (touch wood) have a years NCB as a named driver. and 1 year NCB from previous year from my scooter. i have a pass plus. I will be 18 will have had a full licesnce for 8 months, the car is a 1200 nova. Any ideas on how this can be knocked down?? i know 849 aint THAT bad but surely it can go down more. Cheers

gain another 4 year ncb, age by 7 years, and hold a clean d/L for a few more years.

Try putting your details into:
www.confused.com (http://www.confused.com)
www.gocompare.com (http://www.gocompare.com)

I found gocompare really good, they found me a really good quote on the Cav with 0 ncb

if you have a thatchem approved alarm and imoblizer, off street parking or even better garaged overnight, all the stuff like that helps

I'd say ?849 is about right for an 18y/o on a Nova these days. Have you tried elephant or admiral, with your mum or dad on as a second driver? Adding my sister to my Celica saved me ?200.

try liverpool victoria and as jack said adding you mum or dad on as a second named driver usually brings it down

If you insure the car in your mum or dads name and you just a named driver and insure with direct line that should be cheaper. They give the policy holder and named drivers no claims bonus. Pretty good scheme for young drivers to build up no claims without crazy prices. Hope it helps :thumb:

I'm quite sceptical of the "second driver earns NCB" schemes - more often than not, other insurance companies won't honour that as legit earned NCB, and the original company will usually purposefully keep renewal prices high as they're "trapped" you.

The wife renewed her tesco car insurance this week. Her renewal quote was ?240, but by putting through a completely fresh quote online on tesco website with exact same information, she came out with a quote ?30 cheaper!

Just goes to show, you should always shop around, even if only as far as your own insurance company.

Ahhh, eastbourne is BN20-22. Risk area B.

Oldham is E at best; otherwise F or "Refer". So compared to Novalad, you're getting ripped off!

Hmm, back in the day - 7 years ago! - I paid ?600 to insure a modified 1.2 fully comp. How times have changed lol

Riggy
18-10-07, 12:09 PM

I paid ?850 for a modified 1.0 as my first car 9 years ago.

Still paying nearly that much but on something a little bit quicker.
