LOL, got my brakes fitted this afternoon, turns out they ditted with no probs - 256x24mm 16v Vented discs and calipers. Space between wheel and caliper is only about 2-3mm, but thats enough!
Got the car home with no probs but the back brakes are sticking now even though i just had a new wheel cylinder put on! Think its cos i need them adjusted as i havent got a handbrake cable on - so back to the garage to get that fitted monday (adjuster had fell off so the new one is cable tied up for the mo)
Pedal does feel weird though, lots of travel. Perhaps im going to have to get another servo too?

have a look at the problem yourself mate. Get yourself a Haynes manuel. Its very clear and simple..........and you can save yourself money to use for other mods!

ste - im serious mate, i measured the discs myself b4 they went on, 256mmx24mm, ate calipers, my car is 91 J SR (not i) I dont know if the wheels on mine are perhaps different somehow from the later sri ones but i doubt it. Ill borrow a digital camera this weekend if i can and take a photo!
Im still not out of the woods though cos ive got a strange clunking now which sounds like a driveshaft.......perhaps its the caliper hitting the wheel LOL :D

the travel in your brake is because the back brakes need adjusting your automatic adjuster aint working! but then who's does LOL
:D your home is at risk if you do not keep up repayments :D

Wheres the automatic adjuster on the brakes ? I have lost the handbrake cable adjuster (bit where the 2 cables join)hence why I have no handbrake til i get another one.
Any ideas on the clunking sound people? Its pretty loud at low speed and speeds up as the car goes faster, coming from passenger side footwell area! Driveshafts?

LOL, Drove to work this morning and still have clunking sound, looked at calipers and a bit of the silver paint has rubbed off on the face! Maybe they are hitting the wheels at some point! Either that or it is maybe just oil or something, ill need to have a closer look. Maybe get some jamex spacers n e way.....

dont bother mate. keep them as they are. if they where catching the wheel you would know about it. it might not look much but that couple of mm gap is enough. just jack the car up and spin the wheel you'll see then. your bearing aint gone have they, that could cause the wheel to me movin slightly causing rubbage.
oh they fit under mine to(as marko knows!)

the wheel bolts could need tightening. i know it sounds stupid but when i had a knocking sound from the wheel i took the centre cap off to find three of the bolts finger tight! i was a few miles away from a nasty accident! lol :D
