what 1600 vauxall engines fit in a nova with not much mofying?

i know a nova gsi/gte will go in but what else?

i am looking to put a 1600 engine in my single point injection nova, and want to find an engine or car at the scrappys and convert it.

thanks,
Greg

thanks, what shafts would i use and what else would i need off the car to make my enigne run/move?

what gearbox is on them? f13?

You can use your current shafts, you'd need the fuel pump and engine loom from the donor car. I'm told that the entire engine loom for a C16SE in a mk3 astra will simply unplug. Yes you will likely find F13s on them.

G/box - f13/f15 not sure

there spi so should work from your std pump etc unsue about shafts and that i think they match up to your std setup

you need the wiring loom though

what ever you do, DONT fit an spi OR carb 1.6 8v, they are toilet exmaples of the 1600 engine. the MPI should be the only option considered really

i want a 1600 spi or mpi. i know spi's are crap but i dont really want it for power reasons.

if i got the engine/box/shafts, what else would i need?

i presume i will use my nova mini loom (starter, alternator, temp etc etc)

i just need to get the car running, not bothered about egtting all the gauges etc working.

what wires will i need to wire in to make her run?

thanks
Greg

You'll need the ECU and its loom, ignition live, starter and ground wires.

Why bother with a 1.6 then? Stick a 1.2 in if you're not bothered about power. I presume different engines will require different wiring, but for the MPI it's about 3 wires to get it running (+ve, ign live and fuel pump) on top of the starter wires etc.

the reason for needing a 1600 engine in is so i can go into a bigger class at autotesting..

thanks guys.:thumb:

then your best off fitting the mpi unit as its got 100bhp (ish as they are worn these days) rather than feck all from the spi. if you into the bigger class with an underpowered engine then you will do worse than when in the lower engien class with a good one lol
