View Full Version : PV 1/4 miles times ?
Just wondering what kinda times some of the guys on here managed ? seen a few were running, Rob77, LashedNova, Austin ... seen Rob run a 12.9 ? against the Porsche Turbo but didn't catch anyone elses times.

saw lashednova (paul) run a 15.2 on the sat night. think he missed a gear as his times went right down the next day to the low 13's.
beastie was running around the same times, 13.1 13.2 dont think he got into the high 12's thou
saw and got pic of Mark Beeson bringing home a 13.2

I ran a few in the mid 12s with the best being 12.5 and terminal of 122mph

I ran a 15.3 @ 92mph. Not too bad for a xe with minor engine mods and all the interior in plus 2 subs in the boot for personal enjoyment :D
wanted 14's but pleased with a 15.3 :thumb:
Plus i pissed all over a astra xe haha

paul(lashednova) run a 12.9 @ 111mph terminal on 16's and changed to 15's but best was a 13.1 iirc lost out on the shootout even tho he got a better time:wtf: iirc 6th fastest time of the day.

Aye thought Paul would've been quick, had a doo against him and he beat me ! i ran a 13.8 and he ran a 13.4 or summet, my quickest was 13.25 @ 110.83 pretty happy with that like, just wanna get my T3 on and come back down for somemore runs, would love to get in the 12's ... we'll see !!

i ran a 18.2.......nowt exciting i know but it was my first time on a strip, my nova is a 1.4sr with few minor mods!

I did indeed run a few 12.9 quarters. Terminal 114mph every time.
Damn fuel saver tyres! Could have been a lot lower with some Toyo 888s...

got a 14.9 1/4 saw rob in his turbo well done gave the black viva a good run.you were pulling him in mate.new personal best phil well done i didnt get mine though as i ran a 14.9 last time.:thumb:

red rocket - Lovely motor that mate, Ive seen your motor a few times when ive been out an about with the midnightracing lot, real nice. And seemed to be flying on saturday.
As for this topic I didnt run myself but a friend of mine who owns a fairly stock valver nova ran a 14.5

Is that the matt black viva with LET engine in it? Its a slim chance you'll remember, but do you know roughly what times he got mate?

Ran a 14.3 as my quickest iirc.
Had a great run up there with Rich... who passed me like I was standing still about 2 1/3's of the way up...
Need more power to get things going in 4th.
Kept hitting my limiter aswell, and on one run, the box locked up in 3rd but the gear hadn't engaged. Managed to force it free after rolling over the line at 24mph. pmsl
Well enjoyable runs anyway.

This was the only year for 4 years that i havent done the 1/4 mile just felt far too ill and tired... Just thought i will wait and go to Shakespeare raceway.

saw you lot on the saturday ,when i was tryin to get as meany runs in as i could for the ?20 , was going to talk each of ya but dint want to hold the line up .lol

I was quite upset by that viva, its one of my favourite cars. It usual runs 10s must have been having some running problems as i was crossing the line faster

did a 13.1 but wasnt set up for drag as i wasnt going to run at all. nice standard tyre pressures. got 13.0 a week before pv. got my launch control to fit and some nice cut slicks should be in the 12s and have a chance a totb

I didn't actually run this year but i'm amazed at how many LET Nova's claiming big power can't get down into the 12's.
The black viva did a 12sec run.

Got to agree with Dave, i personally thought the times were very slow this year across all Nova's compared to recent years.
After all Dan is running Low 14's in a 1600 8v while 250-300bhp lets are running 13.5's etc you can get close to that with mildly tuned XE's.
The Astra GTE was rapid, dont know what he ended up with but very well setup car.
I suppose traction is the main problem when running big bhp in a FWD car. I still think getting into the 12's is very impressive. It wasn't all that long ago when it was an acheivement to get into the 14's in a nova!

Pea shooter is a temporary measure to run about with, as I cant afford a proper exhaust as yet!
I took it off for Sunday though, and just ran the downpipe off the turbo...

Still got to disagree, Chris T's XE on Carbs was running spot on 200bhp and he was putting in 13.8's iirc. So a LET with nearly twice the power should be late 12's easily. Phil was running 12.5 in His corsa and he was backing off (ok not by choice but still).
Yes traction could well be a problem.
With regards to the V6 putting in 15.3 well they are only 170BHP as standard and the engine will be 100k+ miles, good fun in a nova but as about as pratical as a wet paper bag. And i have seen a standard GTE in full trim with an alien fitted run late 14's (Denny in Will F's old White GTE).
Anyone now what time the Tigra put in?

do you mean the tigra with the crazy scaff bar manifold? If so he didnt run as he was having fueling issues same as me as he was only running a V6 pump.

The tigra well you wouldnt have missed it put it that way, it was silver erm blue erm black erm rough!
The GTE was STANDARD everything!

Good driver? If you get very little wheelspin and a good launch the rest is just changing gear at the right time.
Dan only (no disrespect Dan, just trying to prove a point) has 140bhp yet managed to consistently put 14.3sec 1/4's in.

Purpley kinda colour ? its from up my way, RedRockets mate, was just a std LET as far as i know, don't think it was running brilliantly either.
I'm pretty confident in saying that theres a lot more to come from it tho knowing what there like !! lol

I beat a gte looked standard on the outside but dont know what class it was in, i was sure it was in a bigger class could be wrong though i really need the vid of that run. I was running alrightish 16's all day i know i can get that time down but i just dont know what to do??? how do i get more power ive allready done all the tuning i can to the 1400. And dont say strip it cus i cant bring myself to rip out the lovely interior:confused:

Get your credit card to pay for headwork, larger valves, madder cam etc etc lol
O, and STRIP it bare.
Get some grippier tyres.
Plenty of stuff.
Or fit a bigger engine :p

strip it out, it wont cost you anything, takes 10 mins to do as its only about 2 bolts lol and you can pop it back in after pod if you really want to.

What more head work is there after port and polish and i have had reangled valves what bigger valves and what bigger cam can i get i still want an evryday kinda car. OH **** i just hit the nail on the head and his is wear i come unstuck i want it fsater but love my interior and practabiltiy so iam screwed cus i cant ever make my mind up:tard: And can someone confirm what the gte i beat had under the bonnet and vid if they have got it:thumb:
Ive put a vid up of it.
Will have been a standard gte(100bhp) which explains how you beat it as you should have bit more power than him :)

Was gutted my nova was playing silly buggers, I love mixing it with the best of the XE boys, but by the poor times that i saw a lot of cars running I could've been up there with some of the LET's :eek:

Key to a good 1/4 mile time is knowing how to drive, the accelerator pedal isn't just on/off most people I watched at pv seemed to think that if they dump the pedal to the floor off the line they will get a good time.

Exactly you only want wheel spin before to warm the tires up, my first time i dumped the clutch now if i gently ease off and gradually apply power i get good runs and happy face as i run similar runs each time (be good to go betterlol )

haha yeah theres a few big power LETs from up our way now like. shame ross's wasnt there too,
gutted i cudnt come,would have like to see what it got like. ah well al be up next time i hope lol
