its a right shame you can [b]NOT[\b] chip them ;)

tbh id go down the petrol root, to get mine to Xe spec i had to spend more then fitting a LET engine ;)

but petrol dot give as much torque as a tuned td engine

1.7TD engine = ?100
nova large block conversion = ?200
custom ground cam = ?300
+1 bore to 1798cc = ?600
Ported and polished manifolds = ?250
Larger valve head = ?250
FMIC = ?150
Pipe work = ?150
boost gauge = ?35

that will get you to about 150bhp and a shed load of torque

or for an extra
peened rods = ?350
Forged pistons = ?320
C20xe arps = ?70
Progrecive wizard of nos kit = ?900

you can get 200ish

1.7td engine, uprate the fuel pump & pressure, larger turbo (I hear the 3.1L Isuzu turbo can be made to fit, or bodge together a mani with a useable flange eg T2 or T3), FMIC & MBC to up the boost.

Personally I'd not waste the money on the port polishing the manifold & hea or a rebore, put it towards the turbo & accessories to give much greater returns for the money spent. If it goes bang you can chuck another in, they're cheap to buy.
