all parts will be in good working order and fully rebuilt engine

1.2 spi engine block
high lift cam kit and a reworked head
1.4sr pistons crank and rods
twin webers ( 40's)
4-2-1 exhaust manifold (wraped in heat tape)
and a good s/s exhaust system

About 150BDP (Break Donkey Power)

Definition of BDP :- Donkey power is not as powerful as Horse power and just a little bit more smelly.

Not sure but probably around the 100bhp mark.

Why not just go for a 1400 engine?

Why not just go for a 1400 engine?

the deadly insurance

I'd have thought it would cost you more to declare the webers etc.. than it would to upgrade to a 1.4.

I have heard some say,and dont quote me on this! that its cheaper to insure a car thats been converted i.e your case a 1.2 - 1.4 rather than the 1400 car itself, that said i dont know your circumstances!

this would also give mea high compression engine is that better than a normal 1.4sr engine

Im not sure on that one but taken account of all costs involved id say it would be much easier and cheaper to either get a 13 or 14 sr engine, theres loads about on egay and with the money you dont spend on the head work and labour etc will go towards the slightly higher insurance premium???

yer but i dont think this kind of conversion is around as much as a 1400 swap
i think it would be somethink special some think diffrent

Ya joking arent ya! you could get a 1400 engine for around ?100 plus wiring box and shafts etc off ebay, the cost of all that work and parts you say is going to be ???s

How old are you, with how many years NCB etc..?

I took my policy out with Flux in september on my 1.2, at the time I'd had my license for 3 years, was 21, with no NCB or accidents/penalties and it cost me around ?480.

If i fitted a 1.6 they'd charge me ?800 renewal including some business miles that I have since added to the policy (which add a static 40%), so thats around ?570ish without the business miles (which I get the company to pay for anyway).

At a rough guess, the engine work you've listed would cost around a ?1000 before the additional premium?

Wouldn't give much power seeing as 1.4 pistons wont fit a spi block.
Unless you've had it re-bored.

What head are you using?

i would use a 1.2 head and are you sure about the pistons not fitting as some one told me they would be a direct fit

Yes im sure.
1.4 pistons wont fit a 1.2i spi block. Theres about a 5mm bore size difference iirc.

1.2 carb i think they'll fit, but you wont beable use the 1.4 crank as it has a different stroke than a 1200.

so if i was to use the 1.2 carb block and 1.4 pistons and rods that should work

Adam

I'd just start with a 1400 block, instead of trying make a 1400cc engine up from a 1200 block :p

Wasn't it that the 1200 carb block combined with the 1300 crank and rods made the 1400 high compression engine?
