The crack is my car goes faster in 4th than it does in 5th, ive asked this question before and had emails about the ratios on the boxes but my computer lost all it,s info last month and i have no record ov my mail, Anyone wid the Info if you could mail me the Ratios i would be greatful, Last time it was thought that my gearbox was out ov an Astra Valver but ive scince been told that an Astra Box wouldnt fit in a Gte, Is this right?

std ye i dont think it would fit.
it goes quicker in 4th becuase u have the wide ratio gearbox (f13wr) and your engine doesnt have enough power to beat road/wind resistance in 5th at top speed. so it ends up that 4th gives a higher top speed.
if u get the f13cr u wont have this as top speed in 4th is around 90mph b4 u hit the limiter!!

5th gear will be overdrive on the gte so its only for fuel economy

top speed in 4th with f13 cr is 105mph :)
top speed in 5th with f13 cr is around 135 - 140 i only ever got to 130 :(

mingle u got 127mph with 6600 rpm on clock, hehe, so how u gonna get above 130?

if were talkin about the f13 cr box as put in the sri ud be lucky to see more than 120 as the rev limiter is set at 6,600rpm, and i was on this when i hit 120

err i got 110mph indicated in my 1.0 last night racing one of my girl mates in her saxo vtr

16v Engine fitting and advice... mail me for a quote :D

110 Lol, 1.0 must have been under pressure ste, 138 in 4th at 5,800 rpm and im not jokin, maybe it,s not that box

Top speed in my GTE is definitely achieved in 5th....was almost off the clock (indicated 130 but obviously not that quick?)....I'll do it again to see what the revs where....going on for 5500 ish I think.
At that speed, I was concentrating on the trucks changing lane ahead!

When we've talked about the GTE and weather it has a C/R box or not (should have, but peeps have discovered otherwise), I'm 100% sure mine has 'cos the engine revs in every gear are totally different to in my 5-speed Antibes with W/R
I often cruise at 30 in 5th and it pulls quite happily.
