Depends what tuning the engine has had... 250+ is a lot for a redtop

seriously, i've seen a tb'd motobuild 2.0 k metro eat a standard xe nova at the pod, but if the nova had similar spec tbs i reckon it would have seen it off.
i'd have to say tho, 1.8vvc metro(150ishbhp??) against 2.0 16v redtop 156bhp nova, very close call!
Metro has unfair weight advantages due to tinworm though Lol!!!

they make 150ish standard 2lt's, both cars will shed weight in the form of bits falling off. Depends which one will fal apart first, tough call.

swindon race engines got an XE up to 300bhp for touring cars...

888 (well the french people they send the engines to) have done 300bhp on a Z20LEH - minus the turbo.

well the vvc lump is 157bhp same as zr160's and they run similar times to xe novas. theres so many variants its unfair to say a vvc metro beat an xe nova. tyres, suspension, how good the engine is, how well the cars set up, driver etc etc. but vvc metro's run late 14, same as most xe novas, however i would say after 120ish the xe would have it ..... JUST IMO.

dont forget most of these engines are over 10years old, have been thrashed and are probably only running 120-130bhp anyway
