on the lookout for a x16xe at the minute and i plan to rebuild it before i put it in my nova. would it be allright just putting new rings on or would i be better saving up for forged pistons i wam planning to put throttle bodies on.wont be putting a turbo or anything on. what are the difference between forged pistons and normal pistons.

will raise the compression ratio, not really needed unless goin for big power figures or an overbore

so if i just rebuilt my engine it would be strong enough

its not that the pistons wouldnt be strong enough, the rods are the component taking the brunt of the force. use arp rod bolts and it should be good to rev higher than the standard limiter. obviosly if you are going to stupid rpm's then uprated rods, crank etc will be required.

i know i sound stupid but how does different bolts let you rev higher

The standard rods/pistons are good for 8k rpm.

If your wanting throttle bodies, then you'll want nice cams, which means pistons with valve cutout pockets in.

ARP bolts are stronger, meaning they wont "give" with the stress of higher rpm's
