Is there anything apart from the larger servo that makes the brakes on turbo diesels any better. Are they fitted with bigger disks/calipers, etc?

i think they have ATE callipers which means there better than std stuff (same as sri/gsi) and also vented discs!!

They didn't have vented disks....well, not the ones I know of anyway....maybe they did later on, but J-plate and below didn't.

Just a little bit of trivia for you....back in 88, the Automotive Journalist Stuart Bladon, with the supervision of the AA, managed to get both 100mph and 100mpg out of a Nova TD...not at the same time though!
Actual results where 103 miles covered in an hour and 105 miles on a gallon.

I am trying to get hold of some 16V calipers at the moment, so if you have some spare, give us a shout.

Performance wise the TD can shift na bad, with the bonus of a James Bond smoke screen behind you :D. The most ive had is 550mpg, but im not the most economical of drivers, far from it. I was racing down to Windamere last Thursday night with my mate in a Pug 306XS and it was happily cruising @ 100mph / 4500rpm. That was a 170 mile trip and I only used 1/3 of the tank.

The bloke who I bought the car off claimed he got it to Belgium on 1 tank of fuel. That's from Edinburgh via Dover!

Does anyone know if there is a limiter on the TD as it refused to go above 110 and no where near the red.

it runs out of power at 110mph

it has no limiter but it won't rev over 6k

me and rob went to london and back flat out in his and didn't use all the tank

its the same engine as the one in my vectra basicaly 1.7td isuzu engine

and there is a limiter built into the fuel injection pump on mine

its a simple screw with a tamperproof cap.
pop into your local libray and have a look at the vectra haynes manuel and compare with yours, they might have simmiler fuel pumps
