View Full Version : what wire
when wiring in an E16SE engine, what wire does the ignition live FROM the engine connect to on the ignition barrel?
As theres 1 red wire, and 3 black wires IIRC
Id imagine it connects to the black wire that is used when the key is turned to "ignition" i.e. position when engine is running? Can anyone clarify that???
I attached it to a black coming out of the fuse box. I can go check which one if you want.

which black? (ive not looked yet lol so for all i know it could be blatently there haha)
I can't remember off the top of my head, I just picked a black coming out the back of the fuse box and joined it! There's a few blacks there.
sound, ill just look for a nice big black one (oh eh! lol) and go from there lol
Theres only two blacks the the ignition switch.
The others are red/black, and red.
One black feeds just the rad fan iirc.
The other feeds the whole car... Lol
You dont need connect it to the barrel, any ignition live that has a decent gauge wire will be fine.
I've known people use the ignition coil feed, and the wiper motor feed,Lol.
i was waiting for you to reply lol top stuff LLTN, will do tomorrow now
should have it running once i pick up my manifold on saturday then :D
Lol
Personally i wouldn't join it to the ignition barrel wires, as there beefy bastids and quite hard to solder to, and i wouldn't want a wire that size missing its insulation..
I'd find a feed in the fusebox, it must stay live when cranking too.
