i have got a nova 1.4 SRI with the following engine spec:

Vauxhall Nova, 1400cc, 8v MPi injection engine.
Complete engine rebuild by my Dad and myself.
All bottom end overhauled, crank shaft reground, bores glazebusted and top
of block skimmed.
Genuine Vauxhall parts used.
Head de-coked
Valves re-ground.
Courtenay Hi Torque camshaft fitted with new rocker arms.
Valvaline 5W/50 fully synthetic oil.
Modified air box with K&N panel filter.
Magnex stainless steel full system and CAT replacement pipe.
Standard 5-speed F13CR gearbox.
ekoteck cb valve.

The question i have is i would like more performance without changing to a bigger
engine, so what would be my next move, i am thinking off getting a power
boost valve, because the engine seems to be pinking under heavy load (fuel
is too lean), or would it be best to have the head re-worked. Another
possiblity is bigger injectors or a re-mapped chip. If anyone could help me
it would be most appreciated. (its multec injection)

Cheers

Can't pinking be reduced by using higher octane petrol, like super unleaded or shell optimax. Or using a octane booster fuel additive.
I dont know about power boost valves, lots of people dont think they are worth it though.

get a bigger engine, cheaper in the long run!, n if u use optimax to often it increases valve wear due to de coking them they need sum on for good life wear!. fse duznt do much myne just gave me a feeling of higher pressure but i didnt notice much!

although uv rebuilt the engine i think a B+ head is in orderm youv got everything else sorted apart from the head as far as i can see!!

sorry to keep saying this but since the 1.4 head is the worst its well worth sending it to Bill Blydenstein to get larger inlet valves etc done. Then try your other ideas plus a larger thottle body

if your engines runnig to lean u could probaly blame it on that stupid eco wank valve u have fitted.

i really dont see the point in them

1.4SRi head (sribwoys) is not the same as the 1.4SR head, it is a lot better.

still get the head work done though. everyone loves a bit of head.

the engine ran lean before the ekoteck valve was fitted micky and since it only bleeds a small amount of air in to the manifold on overrun it can't lean the mixture out under excelleration it simply create's turbulance. And by the way it works, not so much in performance terms (although the throttle response does seem smoother), but it returns fuel figures of up to 25 miles extra from a ?10 note.

Cheers for the sugestions i think that the re-worked head sounds like the way to go which is the best?. As for the larger throttle body, is there a particular company who supply one for the 1.4

See if you can find out whether the GTE throttle body is of a larger bore. This may fit on as a direct replacement, but you you may need to make up an adaptor plate.

I know that Novatech supply a 2.0L 8V throttle body adaptor plate for a GTE but don't know about a GTE for an SRi.
