seperating boss from column

as title really, ive taken out my steering column to put in in my other nova (columns fubard in it thanks to chavs) but the boss kit thats on it doesnt want to budge, any idea's on how to seperate the two (ideally keeping them both in working order)

Sit the column in a vice & tap it down out of the bos. I had to do the same.

so tap round the outside of the boss with a flat head yea?

No sorry, rest the boss over the vice jaws & tap the (unsupported) column through it.

also pour some boiling water on it.
The ally boss will expand quicker than the steel column
