View Full Version : quick question megajolt again!
off what ford car will i get the edis module, coil packs, crank sensor and toothed pulley, also will that pulley fit on a x16xe in a nova!?
have you been on the megasquirt/megajolt site yet?? if not then do as that gives you all the info you could ever need
THeres usually some complete systems on ebay.
I think most fuel injected ford's had them.
It usues a 36-1 crank trigger, GM is a 60-2 iirc
And most/all ford crank sensors trigger off the flywheel, not a seperate crank pully.
You can get universal 36-1 wheels.
Cheap cheap.
Its only about ?80 ready built.
About ?40 for a kit.
But then need edis system etc too.
And someone willing have a go at mapping it, its ignition maps that are tricky, can have a crack at fuel maps with a decent wideband lambda diy style.
so do you think i shud get a universal pulley and use the ford crank sensor? any other way of doing it? cant find any one who has done this on a corsa enigne!
Ive never seen it done on a vauxhall.... Lol
Just read about it.

From what I've read on a vauxhall engine if you allready have the pulley, sensor and dis-pack you can use a mega squirt ecu to control ignition only. At least, thats my understanding of it!
yes normal megasquirt would be the easier option as you dont ahve to feck about with the added crank sensor etc. plus if you want to you can go upto TB's with little to no effort.
assume MJ is ?80, add Edis + a toothed wheel thats bound to be ?60 to add, then factor in the time fecking about say 2 days for example, thats got to be in the region of ?80-130 for that alone... just buy a ready build MS for ?230odd and away you go.
just get mega squirt version 3 ?370 done, map it yourself!!!:thumb:
?370.... you been smoking crack?!?!?!?! you can do it for under ?200 if you build it yourself
has anyone else been on the megasquirt forum ??? was browsing it last night and while its not very big atm it seems th eguys know there stuff
www.megasquirtmaps.com (http://www.megasquirtmaps.com)
im on the other usual MSefi forum. Thats pretty good for info etc but not many gm people.
it does seem to be mainly ford, i guess thats what it was designed for originally ??
since they ponced off the edith system to start with it was a popular mod for fords and the fact that it didnt support the GM crank sensor for ages didnt help
Can get a kit for about ?140 to do yourself, but thats the main reason why most rolling road places dont touch it.
Theres quite a few MS forums, one for the MS1 Xtra etc. And there the best place to get any information from, as a lot of the makers/sellers are on there too.

?370.... you been smoking crack?!?!?!?! you can do it for under ?200 if you build it yourself
it's better paying an extra ?170 on one that has been built by people knowing what they are doing and they are tested before delivery.
wouldnt go as far as to say they know what they are doing...... anyone can wield a soldering iron but to do it right takes skill.... lots of these "tested" units have failed with dry joints that wont nessecararly show up on an initial test etc.
i see, how do you build it yourself? get the version 1 megasquirt and get the ford edis unit and solder the things up?
oh aye see you get a printed circuit board and a bag of resistors and that and solder them yourself, if so i might go down that route since i'm a hot shot at soldering circuit boards if i don't say so myself LOL
EDIS unit is an external system, nothing do with the MS.
The MS is basically a Pcb, with a shed load of resistors, chips etc, Lol
Im not bad at soldering, but i wouldn't attempt one myself.
