is the hand brake cable the same on all novas my mate has a gsi and the passinger side has snapped

No, on some models the long cable goes to the passenger side wheel and on others the drivers side wheel so there are two different lengths.

Earlier models had the cable crossing the exhaust iirc(going to the drivers side)
