Any idea on what this is, i am 99% sure its either carmine red, mexico red or calypso red met,

Its on an 89 Nova SR, it is metallic

Well if it is metallic, it's not Carmine or Mexico!!

But to me it looks like ordinary flat paint, and hard to tell which shade from the pic!!

Calypso red was only a GTE colour. Its not metallic either as they didnt make any red metallic SR's.

get the paint code off the vin plate and go to your local panel factors , the will be able to tell you.

i thought the only red an SR came in was flame red - probably wring tho.

I'm sure RazorSlut made a thread a while ago containing alot of Paintcodes.

I'm sure If somene finds this thread, you'l beable to match the paintcode on your VIN plate.

I remember my burgandy colour had a funky cool name.

Mk1 nova sr were carmine red.

And calypso red is only on gte's.

yeah, it should be carmine red being an sr. mexico was on the standard nova.

There used to be an SR in the same colour as that near me...

The more I look at the pic, the more I'm convinced its Calypso Red.

Could quite easily be a special request colour perhaps? I've seen them in that colour before.

1. Post a few other pics to get a better idea
2. Is it clean and t-cut recently?
3. Look at the colour code and go ask vauxhall.
