well i think i maybe would be able to because it is a very light car but in the end i am looking have doing a c16xe and i bet that will go well thou
craig
the 1.2 will mostly likely beat a 1.2 16v Corsa, as 1.2 16v Corsa are **** :D
Ive got a 1.2 8v as a daily driver, and it is thoroughly pants
novacraig
20-05-07, 03:18 PM

900 is strong money for any Nova, let alone a 1.2 carb. I picked my 1.2 carb up for 400 with around 48/49k on the clock. I have a lot of fun in my 1.2 runabout, its the kind of thing you can thrash and drive at 11/10ths all the time without breaking any speed limits, but a racing machine it aint! With these 1.2s, you are best off just getting a suspension kit, uprating the brakes to Nova or Astra GSi calipers and getting some good quality tyres then you can own your friends in the twisties where the Nova does alright. The key to getting the most out of it I reckon is learn to drive it well. Like an old mini, you have to select the right gear, hold your speed in corners, brake sensibly. This last point might just save your life too, or at least mean that you get next years NCB.
If you are looking for something to street race your friends in and beat them then a 1.2 isn't really the tool for the job, NOT that I am condoning street racing in anyway. Certainly the best place to hone your skills is on a track or at least, private land/roads.

yer i no all that but it would still be nice to keep up or just go pass them in the nova and the car has gd shock n all that on it already and i think i will get 2l brakes on it. o yea i forgot to ask could i just get a set of dail with a rev counter and put them in
craig
p.s thanx dannyb what you think

novacraig
20-05-07, 04:15 PM
yer that would be the best thing to do it at the mo it has got astra gte shock and 40mm springs on them and i am goin to be 2l brakes on them does that sound ok then

Not much you can do to a 1200 truth be told.
A 4 branch manifold
SR cam maybe
Some nutters put T40s on, best saving for a bigger engine if its performance you want
novacraig
20-05-07, 04:35 PM
really wont make alot of different really for power wise n james i am sorry for write in text type i will write normally now ok but where the car is light it should pull well and handle very well

yeah, be a right rally slag, get some decent tyres and a suspesion set up, dont go too low though like i did (i have 60mm) and it is too low with people in the back, even with the arches rolled it fouls if you give it some, plus it just thumps away and alothogh it handels well it is not ideal, feels like i have no suspension at all
novacraig
20-05-07, 04:44 PM
yer that is nxt for the car is decent tyres for it and at the monment it has got 2l gte shock with a 40mm drop i think he said and my car hasnt got back seats lol so i dont have to worry really
james i am sorry for write in text type i will write normally now ok
:thumb: :thumb: :thumb:
my 60mm lowering wasnt that bad on my old nova

20-05-07, 04:46 PM

lol klkl all these set ups what u can have is so cool but i still think would be able to have the corsa and the ka and about the rev counter part have i just get a set of dails and put them in
craig
yep they fit straight in,
novacraig
20-05-07, 05:02 PM
cool cool not hard to do then and thank for everyone infomation on them but them mods will not really do alot to the performance of the car
lol klkl all these set ups what u can have is so cool but i still think would be able to have the corsa and the ka and about the rev counter part have i just get a set of dails and put them in

As long as you get the clocks out of an SR/GTE or an SRi/GSi depending on the dash type, they will go straight in and wiring up the rev counter isn't a problem.
A few ideas for extracting a few more horses.....
1.3 SR inlet and carb, 1.3 SR cam and a decent exhaust is a fairly cheap way of obtaining more power, then you have the option of fitting a (correctly jetted) Webber 32/34 carb to replace the SRs Pierburg item (which is bigger than the 1200s Pierburg). iirc, Stuart is the expert on the 1200 tuning as he has built a crazy spec 1200 which I believe was up for sale a while ago, either as a whole or in bits. Either way, you could try PM ing him.
I'm tempted to drop a 1400 SR engine in mine though as it won't affect the insurance too much and provide a good base for further tuning on!:thumb:
well its not exactly a 10second car now is it!
It dont matter if u will by a mile or a inch ...winnings winning
think thats how it goes:lol:
anyways...900 for a 1.2 nova is steep to say the least mate...
punt it back to him or dont but it wat everu have done...come to scotland i will sell u my little merit plus 58k one owner for 400 and give u new lowering springs with it:)

fair enough but it will be quite nippy for a little 1.2 really with on the 1.3sr stuff on it n dannyb was u sayin the 32/34 webber carb is on the 1.3 sr already or what
cheers craig
has the person who is selling you the car told you that its it has 2lt shocks and springs on it ?
these wont fit if there from an astra as i think you mentioned somewhere
novacraig
21-05-07, 04:48 PM
well i think he said that or he mite of ment the the gte shock from the nova i dunno
I think it might be easier to fit the 32/24 to the 1.3 inlet (with round ports) than the 1.2 inlet. Depends on what adapter plates there are available and whether the 1.2 is different to the 1.3 inlet at the carb end. The 1.3 SR comes with a Pierburg 2B something carb as standard, whereas the 1.2 has a 1B something or other cab on it.

cheers so i take it will make a different to my 0-60 but not by alot to my top end and it would be easyer to have the 32/34 webber carb on top with the 1.3sr inlet on it
craig
you cnuts, what a waste of 5 mins of my life. you owe me now

the downpipe on a GTE is bent different to lower cc nova exhausts, so without modding it, it wont join te rest of the system :thumb: unless you use a GTE system aswell
novacraig
25-05-07, 02:51 PM
sorry i just email the person on the 4-1 mainfold and he said it was to his 1.4sr so does that make any different now to it cheers craig
p.s i am sorry about all the thing i ask but i like to be sure
To fit a sr 4-1 you'll need a complete SR exhaust system too.
